We all know that large pores can be a HUGE pain in the butt. Aside from making you more prone to acne and blemishes, they also make it nearly impossible to achieve a flawless makeup look. I have struggled with large pores for a while now and have tried countless products that just didn't seem to work me! I wanted something that made my pores non-existent, but also didn't break my bank. I was beginning to think I would never find the right product for me UNTIL I came across, not one, but TWO HOLY GRAILS, which are both now staples in my makeup routine!
L'Oreal Paris' Magic Perfecting Base
Per the L'oreal Paris website, this product "Smoothes lines. Hides Pores. Banishes imperfections." Okay, I know, I know! It sounds to good to be true, but I promise it does exactly that! According to the website, "Apply each morning on bare skin or after moisturizer has absorbed completely into skin. Apply dot by dot and blend in a gentle, circular motion over the whole face or to targeted areas: Under-eye to smooth over fine lines. Nose and cheeks to minimize appearance of pores and blemishes. T-zone for a matte result." This is exactly what I do and though the product is small, a little goes a very long way!
It is a creamy consistency that I apply to around my T-zone, cheek area, and even my smile lines. I will say that the product claims to be matte; however, it has more of a tacky feel to it, which I personally love because it makes your foundation stick to your skin and prevents it from moving around. For me personally, it did a really nice job of covering my pores as well as my smile lines, and that was ultimately what won me over. It also works really well with a bare face for the days where you don't feel like wearing a full face of makeup, but still want to achieve a flawless look! As mentioned, I wanted something that didn't break the bank and this product fits that description, as it retails for $12.99 (and even cheaper if you have rewards!).
Maybelline's Baby Skin—Instant Pore Eraser
This has become another holy grail of mine! Similar to the Magic Perfecting Base, this Maybelline product also does a really nice job of that! Per the website, this product "leaves skin with a smooth matte finish," and should be applied in thin layers, with or without moisturizer. The consistency is different with this product, as it is not as thick as the L'oreal product and comes out as a clear-like gel. Because it is not as thick, this formula is very lightweight and doesn't feel like anything tacky on your skin. If tacky is not what you're into when it comes to primers, then this is the product for you! As if this product couldn't get any better, it also retails for only $6.99; and in my opinion, it is almost a dupe for the Benefit Porefessional (which is double that amount for a sample size product)!
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! If you are trying to achieve the most flawless look with no pores in sight, a combination of these two products will do just that! First, I apply the Magic Perfecting Base, let it dry down, and then I apply the Baby Skin Pore Eraser by slowly patting it down on top of the previous product. Then, I just continue on with the rest of my makeup routine and end up with a flawless finish!
Go ahead, name a better duo. I dare ya'!
