Wrinkles are not related to the dryness of the skin

Unfortunately, much of the cosmetic industry's prosperity has been built on half-truths, misleading information, and misleading advertising campaigns. To choose skin care products that really work, you must first familiarize yourself with some of the most common anti-aging myths.

01

Myth 1 - Dry skin causes wrinkles

The creation of wrinkles has nothing to do with the dryness of the skin; wrinkles mainly originate from photoaging, while other causes include muscle activity, estrogen loss, genetics, and fat loss. As for the "fine lines and dry lines" that moisturizers claim to remove, they are not in fact wrinkles. Dry skin looks more "wrinkly" when it is dry, but no matter how much moisturizer is used, the real wrinkles will not go away. Moisturizers can make dry skin look better, but they are not enough to truly rejuvenate the skin!

02

Myth #2 - Choose skin care products based on age

The first and most important thing to remember is that age is not a skin type. No matter what the label on a skincare product says, no product is designed for mature skin or adolescent skin. Any age can have dry skin or oily skin and can suffer from acne, rosacea dermatitis, photoaging, blackheads, wrinkles, and other skin problems, and the products to address these problems are the same no matter what age you are. It is only appropriate to choose products according to your skin type and skin problems, not to choose skin care products according to your age.

Myth 3 - Eye creams can solve problems such as puffiness, dark circles, and sagging skin under the eyes

Hundreds of eye creams claim to reduce or eliminate dark circles, eye bags, and sagging skin, but which products work? The answer is: eye creams just don't live up to their name. More specifically, you don't need a special product under your eyes either. No studies are showing that the eyes need any special ingredients. And, while you must protect your eyes from the sun during the day, most eye creams don't contain sunscreen, which only adds to wrinkles, dark circles, and sagging skin! What works for the face also works for the eyes, so if your cream is well-formulated and suitable for your skin type, it can be used on the eyes.

Myth #4 - Acne and wrinkles don't happen at the same time

Adult women get acne just as much as teenage girls. Men don't get acne as they get older because their hormone levels level off, whereas women's hormone levels fluctuate throughout their lives. This is why many women get physiological acne, or acne during menopause. Another key point: the ingredients that work to control acne are the same for any age.

05

Myth #5 - There are no "magic" ingredients for wrinkles

Anti-wrinkle products almost always brag about containing some rare plant, special vitamin, or another unique ingredient. This is pure nonsense. First of all, the needs of the skin are many and complex, and there is no secret or exclusive ingredient that can meet them all. The skin is the largest organ of the body, and it takes products rich in antioxidants and many other ingredients to repair cell damage, protect against environmental damage, remove dead skin build-up, and more. There are no miracle ingredients or magic formulas in the cosmetic world.

Myth 6 - Skin care products are as effective as cosmetic surgery

"Better than Botox?" "Laser in a bottle?" "Works as well as dermal fillers?" ...... The likelihood is almost zero! There are no studies that prove that skincare products can match the treatments of dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons in any way. Even Botox, if it is not injected into the muscles but just applied to the face, will not have any miraculous results. The same goes for dermal fillers, only injections will work, and topical application will not remove wrinkles. Topical skin care products have many functions, but they also have their limitations. Therefore it is best to use top-quality skin care products that are well formulated and then seek the help of cosmetic surgery when the time is right.

07

Myth 7 - Expensive products are better than cheap ones

It's easy to believe that "you get what you pay for", but it's not true. Over 30 years of research have shown us that the amount of money spent on skin care products has nothing to do with the quality of the product or the nature of the formula. We've seen expensive products made with nothing more than water and wax; on the other hand, some of the cheaper products have excellent formulas. Saving doesn't have to be bad for your skin, and throwing a lot of money away doesn't have to be good for your skin. The key to choosing a skin care product is not price, but whether the formula and ingredients are proven by research to be beneficial to the skin.
