Did you know that everyone has a different shape to their face? There are six face shapes - oval, rectangle, round, square, heart, and diamond. With an accurate analysis, you can figure out what the shape of your face is.

Why would you want to know your face shape?

Because there are certain hairstyles and accessories that look best with each face shape. If you want to bring out the best version of yourself, you're in the right place. This article details the features of a heart-shaped face.

Think you have a heart face shape? First, read the Vocal article, "How to Determine Your Face Shape" for the three steps you can take to know for sure.

Once you have determined that your face shape is heart, read on to learn which hairstyles and accessories are most flattering. Below you can review the traits of a heart face shape.

Hairstyles For Heart Faces

Due to the prominent jawline on most heart-shaped faces, it’s best to look for hairstyles that soften your features. Long to medium-length hair with layers and natural waves is very flattering on this face shape.

Shaggy, side-swept bangs are a great way to camouflage a larger forehead. Just don't go too short with your hairstyle or bangs, as this will add more weight to the appearance of an already top-heavy forehead.

Glasses For Heart Faces

If you have a heart-shaped face, look for narrow glasses with bottom-heavy (but thin) frames that balance the features of your face and widen the appearance of your narrow chin. Soften high cheekbones with a cat-eye frame or frames with rounded edges.

Avoid styles that add width to the top of the face. This goes for both eyeglasses and sunglasses.

Hats For Heart Faces

Wide-brimmed, circular floppy hats do no favors for a heart-shaped face. The wide brim enhances the wideness of your forehead and cheekbones and the narrowness of your jaw. Go for hats with shorter brims and angles, like a fedora. The slanted brim will add the illusion of width to your chin area.

Newsboy caps, jockey caps, and baseball caps also support the narrowness of your jaw without highlighting it because the width of the brim does not extend past your cheekbones.

Jewelry For Heart Faces

Earrings that highlight the cheekbones can be very flattering on a heart-shaped face. Draw attention with dangly sparkles, embellishments, and bright colors. Avoid styles that have too much length or are top-heavy, as this can make the forehead appear wider.

Necklaces should be on the shorter side, so as not to pull the narrow chin down even further, but to try and balance out your facial features by adding more width. Heavy, chunky embellishments help add more weight to the bottom of the face, balancing it out better.

Heart Face Shape Review

A heart face shape is narrow at the chin and wide at the cheeks and forehead. To balance out the face, hairstyles and accessories should soften the top half and widen the bottom half.

Hair should remain on the longer side, glasses should be rounded and bottom-heavy, hats should be narrow, and jewelry should be short on the neck and flatter the cheekbones.
