We all admire it when we see a person with flawless skin. The very radiance that overflows from their skin reminds us of a place that we all dream of experiencing at least once. But a mere look around at the level of chaos that is there in the air, in the water, and in the food, gives us a span of hopelessness. However, there is still hope, and the hope arrives in the ways we treat our skin. The kinder we are to it, the more careful, and the better glow our skin gifts us with. So, here are a few tips on how to have healthier skin and life there forth.

Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate

The secret to healthier skin lies in the level of hydration it receives. Our skin function flawlessly when it is supple and stretchable. This flexibility it gets from hydration. You surely must have seen a cracked heel once and winced upon its condition. Our skin is meant to be flexible and stretchable. It is designed in a way that allows our bodies to move and turn freely. When there is not enough hydration in our skin, it turns dry, and the body movements thereafter lead to cracks in it.

So, how to keep blessing the skin with proper hydration? Here is what to do:

• Drink plenty of water, not only for your skin but for your immunity as well. Drinking water also flushes out the toxins in our bodies. Aim for at least 8-10 glasses of water per day and increase gradually. However, make sure not to overdrink.

• Don’t use hot water as it can suck out vital oils from the skin.

• Use a humidifier at home if you live in a dry climate.

• Focus on a balanced diet: eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and fibers to keep your skin hydrated.

Keep the sun at bay

Although we cannot really keep the sun at bay, what we can do is protect our skin from the sun. Sun damage can lead to premature aging and even skin cancer. Make sure to wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and reapply every two hours if you're outside for an extended period. Doing this protects our skin from harmful UV radiations that damage skin cells and causes burns.

Whenever choosing sunscreen, focus on the quality. The health and beauty products you choose should always be free from harmful chemicals. Do your ingredient research beforehand.

Use gentle, non-comedogenic products

Harsh products can strip your skin of its natural oils and exacerbate skin issues. Look for products that are gentle, fragrance-free, and won't clog your pores. This is especially necessary when choosing skincare products for your face due to its sensitivity. Applying harsh products can make it suffer instead of giving it a healing touch.

Sleep like a baby

What we mean is not the position but the quality of the sleep. A baby sleeps without any worry and takes the amount of sleep necessary. When we grow up, we often tend to ignore the quality and amount of our sleep. An ideal number is to get 7-8 hours of quality, distraction-less sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to dark circles, puffiness, and a dull complexion. If you do not want this to happen, focus on your sleep as well. It is that one secret that not all tells you.

One thing I've learned is that taking care of your skin doesn't have to be a chore. In fact, it can be a fun and relaxing part of your self-care routine. I love to unwind at the end of the day with a facial mask or a warm bath with some essential oils. You may simply buy these products from free Shopify alternatives at a good price. Not only does it help me de-stress, but it also leaves my skin feeling soft and glowing.
