My Honest Fenty Skin Review
Here's what I thought about Fenty Skin's masks, serums and creams, including the viral Butta Drop.

With rave reviews across social media, Fenty Skin seems to go viral at least once a month. These formulas emphasize fruits, oils and butters, leading to beloved products like the award-winning Butta Drop. I couldn't resist jumping on the hype train, and when I found Fenty Skin products at Sephora, I took home a few samples and tried their serums in-store.
After Fenty Beauty changed the conversation around diversity in the beauty industry, Fenty Skin had a lot to live up to. I had some surprises and a few disappointments, but ultimately, I think it's one of the better skincare brands on the market. Still, the price point is a little high, so I wrote this honest, non-sponsored Fenty Skin review to help you make a smart purchasing decision.
What is Fenty Skin?
When Rihanna noticed a lack of makeup for diverse skin tones, she launched Fenty Beauty to reach customers who were previously underrepresented. Once Fenty Beauty exploded in popularity, she expanded the brand to include fragrances, Fenty Hair and Fenty Skin, which offers masks, creams, serums, toners and other essentials.
Dew N Plump Intense Hydration Slushie Overnight Face Mask
Dew N Plump Intense Hydration Slushie Overnight Face Mask aims to hydrate your skin with a combination of hyaluronic acids and Fenty's custom fruit juice blend. To get the benefits, you'll apply this mask at the end of your skincare routine and leave it on overnight without rinsing it off.
True to its name, this formula had a gently abrasive texture with small bubbles inside that reminded me of fruit slushies. While the website claims that you can feel the bubbles burst as you massage them into your skin, I didn't have that experience. Additionally, my face was wet and shiny in the morning, so leaving it on seemed impossible.
However, once I'd washed my face, I could see the benefits of wearing this mask overnight. My face had a plump, spongey texture and a clearer skin tone, showing that my skin had absorbed the formula and relieved the tightness I usually feel in the mornings. Plus, the slushie-like texture created a fun tactile experience that reminded me of LUSH skincare. This might be my new favorite mask, and I think you'll enjoy it, too.
Cookies N Clean Whipped Clay Pore Detox Face Mask
Cookies N Clean Whipped Clay Pore Detox Face Mask includes a blend of charcoal, kaolin clay, salicylic acid, and rhubarb and ginger extracts, which may cleanse your skin and remove excess oils. You'll apply this mask to your skin, wait ten minutes and rinse it off.
From the start, this mask was a delight to use. The light, spongey texture reminded me of marshmallows, while the tiny charcoal beads burst and left black streaks on my face as I rubbed it into my skin. Once I'd applied the entire mask, my face looked like I'd covered it with streaks of grey and black paint. The dense, cakey formula created a pleasant cooling sensation as I waited before rinsing it off.
Afterward, my skin looked clear and refreshed. My pores were less visible, and my face felt dry, clean and smooth, implying that the clay had absorbed the excess oils. This mask had definitely delivered on its promises, and if I had the money, I'd buy a tub and use it every night.
Instant Reset Brightening Overnight Recovery Gel-Cream
Instant Reset Brightening Overnight Recovery Gel-Cream contains a variety of ingredients, including aloe, niacinamide, Kalahari melon oil, Australian lemon myrtle and Japanese raisin tree, which may hydrate and revitalize your skin as you sleep. To use, you'll apply this cream to your face before bed.
This tan-hued product had an earthy aroma and a rich, buttery texture that turned clear when I massaged it into my skin. When I woke up, my face felt moist and sticky, prompting me to wash it off immediately. Luckily, this mask had done its job: my face felt smooth and resurfaced, and my skin tone was so even that it almost looked like I'd applied foundation.
The only downside is that my pores were more visible, which was the opposite of what the website had promised. Maybe this was just a temporary side effect. Unfortunately, the sample only came with a single dose, so I guess I'll never know.

Fat Water
Fat Water uses a blend of Barbados cherry, Japanese raisin tree and Australian lemon myrtle to target multiple concerns at once, including dark spots, enlarged pores, excess oil and dry skin. For best results, you'll apply this formula as part of your morning and evening skincare regimen.
With a runny texture and mild fragrance, massaging this formula into my skin created a refreshing sensation that would definitely wake me up in the morning. Still, after applying this serum, I didn't see much of a difference. My skin was a little brighter and more cohesive, but it lacked the improvements that the website promised.
It's possible that you need to use this serum for several days before you start seeing the effects. In any case, I wouldn't say that Fat Water is a quick fix or a replacement for a full facial. Instead, it mildly enhances your skin at the start of your routine--and, sometimes, that's all you need.
Butta Drop
Butta Drop is Fenty's award-winning body cream. Shea butter, mango butter and a blend of seven oils make up nearly 25% of the formula, offering rich nourishment for your skin. You can apply this cream anywhere on your body for added shine and moisture.
After seeing glowing reviews online, I was excited to try this product. The thick, buttery formula melted into my skin, leaving a moist but not sticky residue. After application, my hands had a silky, buttery texture and a light sheen that lasted about 30 minutes.
This cream didn't eliminate the rough patches on my hands, and I had to use a generous amount to see the effects, but it's good for hydrating your skin without leaving a sticky, uncomfortable residue. Still, I did think it was a little over-hyped. It's a decent formula, but it's not a miracle cream. Don't tell Instagram I said that, though.
Cherry Dub BHA Toner
True to its name, Cherry Dub BHA Toner contains a triple Barbados cherry complex with enzymes, ferment and fruit water, plus aloe juice, salicylic acid and other ingredients that may unclog your pores and brighten your skin. You'll use this product twice a day as part of your skincare routine.
The runny texture and musky, cherry-toned scent left me feeling cool and refreshed. Unfortunately, that was the only benefit I found in this product. My face's appearance and texture didn't change, leaving me to wonder if you need to use this toner for days to start seeing results. The toner also left a sticky residue, which was disappointing because I expected dryness.
I only used this once, so if you have Cherry Dub BHA Toner sitting on your nightstand, don't throw it away just yet. However, it wasn't the quick fix that the website made it out to be. I recommend using it for a few days with your favorite skincare products to see what happens.
Overall Verdict
Face masks are definitely a highlight of the Fenty Skin brand. They're unique, effective and richly textured, which sets them apart from other brands. The other products had varying results, but most of them offered some benefits, even if the social media hype is a little excessive. This isn't the cheapest brand, so grab a few samples first.
