Dr. Georgia Lee, a prominent figure in the beauty industry and known for her impeccable sense of style, has also made significant strides as an entrepreneur in Singapore. Her journey began 14 years ago when she experienced an allergic reaction to an antibiotic, igniting her passion for skincare. Since then, Dr. Lee has transformed her interest into a thriving beauty empire called A DrBrand, which encompasses a renowned line of skincare, body and haircare products, along with four well-established spas across the island.

With an unwavering focus on the future, Dr. Lee refuses to rest on her accomplishments. In this interview, she shares her personal motto and provides insights into her plans as an inspiring entrepreneur.

You advocate for the "less is more" approach. How does this philosophy influence your daily routine?

I apply the principle of simplicity to every aspect of my life, both personally and professionally. I believe that skincare should be uncomplicated. For example, I stick to using just five products: the drGL Lightening Cleanser, Oil Control Toner, Post Cleanser Step 2 (a chemical exfoliator), Eye Repair Brightening Gel, and the Anti-Aging Sun Protector, which I apply to my face and body. I prefer dedicating five minutes each day to protect my skin rather than undergoing future treatments to reverse signs of photoaging. The time and cost saved are worthwhile investments in the present.

Over the past decade, you've built a comprehensive line of skincare, body, and haircare products, as well as founded DrSpa. Did you anticipate creating such an impressive beauty empire?

We are still on the path to achieving our ultimate goals, but I am fortunate to lead a team that is hardworking, ambitious, and driven. We have set our sights high, and before launching DrGL, I spent six years studying skincare, developing products, and understanding the retail market. This groundwork is crucial for any new brand, and I'm delighted to see our brand DNA resonating well with our customers. Now is the time to continue expanding and growing our brand.

Which DrGL products hold a special place in your heart?

We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers about the effectiveness of our Skin Repair product. One customer even noticed that her wound from a deep cut healed faster after applying the Restore Gel underneath a prescription medication from her doctor. As for my personal favorites, I cannot do without the Post Cleanser Step 2, a gentle chemical exfoliant, and the versatile Anti-Aging Sun Protector.

What are some common beauty habits that Singaporean women (and men) should avoid?

A major beauty faux pas is applying sun protection solely to the face while neglecting the eyelids and the rest of the body. Every part of your skin experiences the aging process and requires equal amounts of care to prevent UV damage.

What does the future of beauty hold?

The trend towards a "clean," healthy, and natural appearance will continue to dominate. With the influx of products aimed at improving complexion, firming the skin, and enhancing eyelashes, I believe the future of beauty will revolve around achieving a youthful and vibrant look.
