The health community is calling obese people an epidemic.

It will soon be the leading cause of preventable death in the United States.

An increased risk of cancer is one of the consequences of being obese.

Losing weight is one of the best things you can do for yourself because of the health risks and the improvement in the quality of life that can occur.

There is no magic solution to losing weight.

Excess fat will be shed when the body needs more calories to function than the amount of calories you feed it.

It is that simple.

In order to lose weight, you need to increase the amount of calories you burn as well as decrease the number of calories you eat.

There are many options to choose from when looking for a weight loss program.

All of them spend a lot of time explaining what to eat.

Most of them don't emphasize the importance of exercise for general health and wellbeing.

It's important to exercise when trying to lose weight.

As you start to eat less, your metabolism will slow down.

Exercising helps to elevate your metabolism back to an efficient level.

It doesn't have to mean working out for hours at the gym.

In order for you to stick with it on the long run, exercising should be something that you enjoy.

Increasing your activity level is the first thing you should do.

When you can, take the stairs.

You can park further from the door.

Bring a dog or a friend with you for a walk in the park or neighborhood.

You can take dance or martial arts lessons.

You will find it easier to move into regular exercise once you become more active.

You will need to do this eventually in order to get regular health benefits.

If you want to burn fat, you need to raise your heart rate to a fat burning level and keep it there for at least 20 minutes, 3 times or more a week.

There are other options if you don't want to go to the gym.

There are videos and DVDs for all types of exercise.

You can change your routine whenever you want so that you don't get bored with what you're doing.

You can choose from a range of aerobics, kickboxing, yoga, or any other activity you want to do in your own home.

You can still increase your activity level if you have physical limitations that prevent you from exercising.

Water aerobics is a great option for people who have joint problems or limited mobility because it relieves the pressure on their body.

You can still challenge your muscles from the water.

There are even classes and videos that teach you how to exercise in a seated position.

It is important to stay motivated and have fun while exercising.

A group of people can make a social event.

If you want to know how many miles you can walk a week, you can get a device that tracks how far you walk.

Treat the winner of the competition with something special, not food related.

It will become a regular part of your healthy lifestyle if you make the experience of exercising something that you look forward to. and it will soon become a regular part of your healthier lifestyle. It comes down to more calories used each day, called “burning calories,” than taking in, called “eating.”

If you are fighting obesity haphazardly, start to change your behavior TODAY. Use a smart yet systematic approach to behavior modification. It will take time but the long term benefits and permanent weight loss will be there.
