Becoming a successful microblading artist doesn’t only require learning the skill. There are numerous tips and tricks professional and experienced artists use to get the best results on their clients.

Here are some tips you should consider to improve your microblading skills and your business as well.

Consultations Are Very Important

Getting the eyebrows microbladed is not an easy decision for some clients. They have so many questions and you need to be there to answer all of them and make sure your potential clients understand everything about the procedure. This is a kind of a tattoo, so it is no wonder they will be worried about the amount of pain and potential side effects.

Consultations are also there to get all the information about the client, most importantly, their health state because not everyone is a good candidate for microblading.

Some artists charge for their consultations, mostly those more experienced ones, who are fully booked and don’t have enough time. But if you are just starting, charging for consultations may not be a good idea. It is hard to get the clients at the beginning, but complimentary consultations can be a good marketing trick.

Make sure you are confident and knowledgeable about the treatment, to make the clients feel safe and let you perform microblading on their eyebrows.

Mapping is Crucial

The most important part of microblading, and definitely not the easiest one is mapping. Every face is different and only a lot of experience and practice can make you become great at mapping. But in the beginning, it is useful to practice as much as you can, with your friends and relatives. And if this is not going very well, take additional mapping courses.

Microblading training in Miami is a reputable microblading course, that covers mapping and gives you all you need to start your microblading career. Taking a reputable beginner course as well as additional courses if needed is an investment you need to make in order to become successful at microblading.

Get Clients Informed About Aftercare

Your clients need to know that the success of the treatments depends on aftercare to a great extent. They are usually focused on their new eyebrows immediately after the treatment and don’t listen to the tips they need to follow while their eyebrows are healing. So, sometimes they pick the scabs or go swimming immediately after the treatment and then complain that their tattoo is botched.

That is why you need to get them well informed about the aftercare routine. The best option is to print out small aftercare instruction cards and put them in the aftercare kit you will give them after the treatment. Emphasize the importance of the aftercare - now it is everything up to them.

Dry Healing vs Wet Healing

When microblading just started to be popular, microblading artists advised keeping the eyebrows dry during the healing period. Many people still think that eyebrows shouldn’t be washed, but that is a common misconception. Freshly microbladed brows are an open wound and they need to be cleaned properly. That doesn’t mean your clients should wash them in the shower, no, it means they need to carefully remove lymph build-up with a little bit of water on a clean cotton pad.

Dry healing means not applying any ointment, while wet healing means using a cream that will keep the eyebrows moisturized. Both of them include washing the eyebrows. A skillful artist will know which type of healing to recommend. Usually, dry healing is a better choice for people with oily skin.

Touch Up is Mandatory

Microblading is a 2-session treatment, which means that the first touchup needs to be done 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment. Some clients don’t know that and they skip the touch up, and then they demand another treatment after a couple of weeks. Touch up is there to fill in the gaps if there are any and all the imperfections, to add more color if a client wants darker brows.

So, make sure your clients know that the touch up is important and they shouldn’t skip it.

Conclusion

There are a lot of other hacks you will learn throughout your microblading career. Microblading is only going to be more popular in the future and the technique is going to be improved, so make sure you are always up-to-date.
