If you don't get enough sleep or can't sleep, you will feel dry and dull skin. This is the time to relax before bed and ensure deep sleep is the big thing! Let's master face massage techniques to make sleep time into beauty time.

Sleep is crucial for beautiful skin. Researcher Hiroshi Tanaka, director of Kanebo Cosmetics in Japan, says, "Aging leads to an increase in IGFBP4 protein, which hinders the function of IGF-1, which produces moisturizing ingredients and collagen. That's why preventing skin aging requires ensuring good sleep and skin care."

Short sleep time and reduced skin defense function can easily lead to dry skin.

Director researcher Akihiro Tada of POLA Chemical Industry said, "When you don't get enough sleep, you need to pay more attention to moisturizing than usual. It's also important not to let your skin get cold." Health and Beauty introduces the "hydrating face relaxation method", which is recommended to be done at night!

The experiment measured the texture of the cheeks of 12 women aged 30 to 59 years old, and measured the sleep time of 6 hours and 3 hours respectively, mainly the night before and in the morning. The results showed that the skin furrows were shallow, the skin mounds became flat and the skin texture deteriorated in the morning when the sleep time was 3 hours compared to the morning when the sleep time was 6 hours.

The experiment measured water evaporation from the lower cheeks of 12 women aged 30 to 50 years old on mornings with 6 hours of sleep and 3 hours of sleep. Water evaporation was high during 3 hours of sleep, and lack of sleep caused a decrease in defense function, leading to dry skin.

Growth hormone secreted by the pituitary gland during sleep promotes dryness by secreting growth factor IGF-1. IGF-1 acts on skin cells to promote the secretion of moisturizing ingredients such as NMF (natural moisturizing factor) in the epidermis and collagen in the dermis. Therefore, it is important to maintain deep sleep during the 3 hours of active growth hormone secretion.

Lack of sleep leads to poor blood circulation and lymphatic circulation. But it is always impossible to ensure sufficient sleep ......

Sleep is critical for beautiful skin

Earlier we introduced that lack of sleep leads to a decrease in skin moisture and defense function. So we need to replenish moisture and oil at night. There is also the more important point of keeping the skin of the face warm. Soft skin has higher skin temperature and higher ability to maintain the moisture content of the stratum corneum compared to rough skin."

Here we recommend doing the "Hydrating Face Relaxation". This relaxes the stiffness of the facial muscles, stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation, and eliminates unwanted waste products. Finally, wrap your warm hands around your cheeks and lift them upward.

By doing these treatments before bed, you can prevent rough, dull and watery skin the next morning!

Make circles on the cheeks and nose

Make a fist and massage your cheeks with the second joint of your fingers, drawing circles from front to back (①). Next, relax the nose with the knuckle of your thumb (②). Massage each of them 8 times.

Place the knuckles of your thumbs under your eyebrows and massage up and down. Do 8 times.

Stroke the curve of the face and cheek bones

Place the base of your palm under your chin and run it up along the curve of your face, sliding it under your ear (①). Then slide along the cheekbone from the inside out and from the front of the ear to the neck (②). Do each of these 3 times.

Use your middle and ring finger bellies to slide from the top of your eyelids from the inside out. Do the same under the eyes. Do this 2 times each. Finally, stroke from the front of the ear to the neck.

Lifting the face and cheeks

Facial massage is necessary

Using the palm of your hand, lift along the entire curve of the face from the jaw to just below the ears (①). Next, lift the cheeks to the temples (②). Do this 3 times, and hold for 3 seconds after each of the 3 lifts.

Place your palms on your forehead and lift upward (③). After three lifts, hold for 3 seconds. Finally, push the temples upward (④).

After following these three steps, the experimenter measured the skin temperature before and after the massage. It was found that the temperature of the whole face such as cheeks, eyes, nose head, jaw, and lips increased. Many people in the questionnaire said that "blood circulation has improved" and "dark circles under the eyes have disappeared" after the massage.

You can use some massage creams and night creams with good moisturizing effect. This will make your hands smoother when you massage. "Blood circulation is accelerated, and the skin's temperature is kept at a certain level will make it less likely to lose moisture." Applying a mask before bedtime likewise helps keep skin hydrated the next day.

The temperature of the face is usually hard to feel, so be sure to pay attention if the back of your neck or face is cooler than your hands when removing makeup. Relax your face fully to make it warmer.
