Call me weird if you like, but autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. Sure, summer is nice with it's heat and it's pretty flowers and the opportunity to wear shorts but...it's just not for me.

For both spring and summer I yearn for hot chocolate, knitted jumpers, orange leaves on the ground and a specific nerdy vibe that only autumn can produce.

And what may this nerdy vibe be? You don't have to ask, because I'm going to tell you.

I'm talking about the autumnal vibe that the wizarding world of Harry Potter gives off. The wonderful aesthetic of Forks from Twilight or Beacon Hills from Teen Wolf. And, a more recent yearning I've had - the fall vibes of season one and two Hawkins, Indiana from Stranger Things.

It all just makes me want to become that type of Pinterest girl who has a multicoloured thick-knit sweater, with a blanket and a hot chocolate that's stacked with whipped cream and small marshmallows. Oh and don't forget the fairy lights. And pumpkin scented candles. And - you get the idea.

So, if you're craving that type of vibe, here is the ultimate autumn playlist for nerds:

1. 'O Children' by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

This song is peak autumnal vibes, and is taken straight from the soundtrack of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

As soon as I hear it I picture Harry and Hermione dancing, a scene that IMO is such a crucial part in the pair's friendship and highlights the care Harry has for Hermione. It's an amazing song about the youth having to stand up against difficult times and that is exactly what the Golden Trio are going through during The Deathly Hallows.

It's a kind of spooky song with such powerful lyrics and vocals - I have it on repeat every autumn!

2. 'Rosyln' - Bon Iver, St. Vincent

This song. Rain. A hot drink. Perfection.

From Twilight: New Moon, this song holds so many memories for me as I have been a long-time Twilight fan.

(And, just so we're clear about this, I am team Jacob. And yes, that is still important in 2022)

So if you're anything like me, even if you're team Edward, this song needs to be on your ultimate autumn playlist. It is *chef's kiss*.

3. Ghosts - BANNERS

This SONG, oh lord. For those of you who may not know, this is from season 5 of Teen Wolf and boy, is it a sad one. I won't go into any spoilers, but the use of this song is so gorgeous. FYI: I re-watched the scene while writing this and started bawling my eyes out so...maybe I'm still a tad emotional over fictional characters that last existed seven years ago. Just a little. A smidge.

BUT, back to the point, this song is beautiful. And it's called Ghosts, so it fits right in with the Halloween vibes of autumn too!

4. Fare Thee Well (Dink's Song) - Oscar Isaac, Marcus Mumford

Whether you're an Oscar Isaac fan from his recent Marvel show Moon Knight, or perhaps you're an OG fan going back to his early acting days, but if you like autumn and you like Oscar Isaac then this song is for you. Because we all know we love a hot DILF who can act and sing.

Not to mention the vocals also include one-third of Mumford & Sons, and their folk rock vibe is always perfect for autumn, so you know it's going to be good.

This song just seems so special and it needs to be on your playlist ASAP, okay?

5. All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)

Okay hear me out, I know there's a 'sad girl autumn' version of this song, but this version gives me life and it's the only version I want on this ultimate autumn playlist for nerds.

Why? Because of the music video. The whole setting and visuals of that music video are to die for, 10/10 autumn-ness. But also - from a nerdy girl perspective - the music video is even better as it features Dylan O'brien and Sadie Sink.

If you haven't watched it yet, please stop living under a rock. Sincerely, a nerdy swiftie xox

6. Kids - Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein

It's nineteen eighty-something and the leaves are falling on the street. A bunch of kids bike up a hill, the autumn winds battling them. A strange girl somehow flips a van with her mind. This is where the obsession begins.

This song is so so perfect for this playlist. I get goose bumps every time I hear it because not only does it transport me to the time where I first watched Stranger Things but it also takes me to Hawkins, Indiana during the fall, and I feel as though I'm a part of the story. I LOVE it.

7. Bella's Lullaby - Carter Burwell, Maksym Rzeminski

Even though this song has no words I could recite every note of this song from memory. It's giving me 'life in Forks' vibes, suddenly I am Bella Swan and I have to choose between a werewolf and a vampire. I am complete.

This song is just very gentle and easy to listen to - great for when it's raining and you're indoors reading or snuggling in bed ready for a nap. It's literally a lullaby, you can't go wrong.

8. The Night We Met - Lord Huron

If you're on TikTok, you'll know this one. I have seen many an edit to this song, and they make me feel intense things every single time. That's the downfall of being a multifandom gal - there are too many characters to play with your heart strings.

It's a chilled song, with angelic harmonies and it has some powerful lyrics. Definitely deserves a spot on the ultimate autumn playlist for nerds.

9. House of the Rising Sun - The Animals

Supernatural fans, where are you? I know you're hiding, pretending you don't miss the Winchester brothers. Because I know I do. This song is so unique and I love it, and I remember vividly listening to it for the first time after hearing it on one of the Supernatural episodes - there's 320 of them, so I can't remember the exact episode! I'm not a God!

Classic song, smack it on your playlist and you will not be disappointed!

10. Doomsday - Murray Gold

I thought very hard about whether to include this track, and I have. Because it's beautiful, because I love the 10th Doctor, and because if you've never seen Doctor Who then at least I get to share this one song with you, and it might convince you to watch it.

Truth be told I listen to this song and zone out because when I hear this all I am thinking about is how much I love David Tennant and how much I love Doctor Who in general. The era of David Tennant gives me so much nostalgia of early 2000's London - autumnal shots of London, leaves being swirled by the TARDIS's arrival, Christmas specials where aliens take over unassuming British people. I love it.

And no autumn is ever complete without a new Doctor Who episode (and I must say, that latest episode?? OMG am I excited!)

I could list so many songs perfect for the ultimate autumn playlist for nerds, but instead I've compiled them into a REAL playlist so it makes listening even easier! So, go on, enjoy my nerdy friends, and have a wonderful autumn!

The top photo is probably a unique piece from Unsplash https://lolbeans.online. I like it very much. The roof in the photo is very special. There seems to be an animal resembling a dragon on it. Is it an actual photo or from a movie? I'm curious about it.
