Saint Valentine
Valentine’s Day is sacred. It's thanks to a Saint from 18 centuries ago that people today give each other chocolates and flowers once a year, but, this isn’t about religion or romance. This is about love.
Valentine's Day...I'm Good
Valentine’s Day…represented by the flowers, candy, teddy bears all in the aisles of stores. The jewelry stores filled with people trying to find that special gift for that special one. Bleh. Now don’t think I’m a hater, because I am not. Believe me, I love the concept of love and what Valentine’s Day represents. But the holiday throws shade on those who are single. A relationship doesn’t necessarily define true love. Sometimes people just settle to say they have someone. Just because someone is single doesn’t make them unlucky in love or incapable of love. Sometimes being single is the best status to have until you are ready for that commitment. I know I am open to true love, but I am single and grown to love it.

Alex House. I met this young man in grade school. I am not sure if it was fourth or fifth grade but Alex was like me. He was quiet, not much of a talker, but he managed to get by and be noticed among the rest of us of kids. Alex was a tall, slender white boy with long blonde hair. I don’t know why I became friends with him, but he just was. By the way, I was a short slender Mexican looking boy myself. I wasn’t too dark skinned. I was more light skinned on average for a Mexican kid. Alex and I used to play together at recess and we’d do a lot of mischievous things while playing too. One of those things was sneaking to the back restrooms during recess. The back restrooms were not the closet restrooms to the playground area. The back restrooms were on the other side of the school. There was no significant purpose to sneak out to the back restrooms, but it was just something to do. Alex and I thought we were so slick in sneaking to the back restrooms. We even monitored and observed the campus supervisor and waited for the right moment to mill our way across this small elementary school to the other side of the school just for fun. Alex and I would go in short intervals, peering through the different buildings undetected until we both reached the back restrooms. None of us got caught on the way to the back restrooms. We acted as if we were on a covet James Bond type mission. For what? I have no idea.

Music. Music is something we as people enjoy in our daily lives and is viewed differently. From Hip-Hop to Country and everything in between people seem to be connected to music. As a listener it’s easy to appreciate and share the feelings of a great song. As a listener we often debate on artists that are the “goat” of generes, fantasize about collaborations, and even dream of creating vibes for ourselves. Creation is another world in itself.
Jax GeeniusPublished 3 years ago in BeatThe Story of "No Love"
This is a story of how a song my band wrote 12 years ago continues to inspire me and I hope will now inspire others. The incredible story of how the song ‘No Love’ came to be began 12 year ago as a way to reflect and be motivated to look at the world differently. The first burst of writing was inspired by a decade that started with a major terrorist attack that changed the USA forever and ended with an economic crisis that nearly led to a second Great Depression. After several years of peace, prosperity, and strong economic recovery, dark clouds were visible on the horizon. After eight years of “Hope” danger signs indicated we might enter another period of “No Love”.

I know I am extremely late to the party on this one but can I just take a moment to acknowledge the works of this man right here. I can't believe that I have not heard of this man until recently. He is simply enchanting to listen to whether its to his lyrics or in interviews speaking on what faith means to him. The man has become a legend in my book in less than a weeks time and that really doesn't happen often.

Hi readers, This is my first shot at this. I don’t exactly know what I am doing or what exactly my end goal is here, but maybe that’s the exciting thing about this. I just knew I needed a way to get all my thoughts down and track my progress with a project I wanted to do.

I remember when the pandemic began, March 13th, 2020. Now me, as a teacher, teaching 9th grade English, I assumed things would work themselves out for my students. We were being instructed to create and progress towards virtual classrooms ,which was an easy transition. However, My artistic side, my vocal performance side, craved to help ease the pain of my friends lists on Social Media. So I created “#LockDown Freestyles”, an extension of my #VocalDiaryEntries series I’ve done on social media. Basically, every other Tuesday, Thursday night of the pandemic I would do virtual concerts involving myself, a bluetooth speaker & friend’s list. Each request that was given by my followers, I sang! This led to nights of connection, testimonials and rapport being built with friends from around the globe, experiencing the pandemic but also by providing musical selections as an aid to soothe and entertain quarantined families. I remember wanting to do it free the first weeks and as the pandemic continued, people would encourage me to include my payment information so that viewers could support financially through the pandemic. There was one night I started at 8p.m and we didn’t end until midnight. People were connected, entertained and tuned into the selfless act of me just singing songs in an effort to just appease the masses and it provided so much of a comfort to everyone who was apart. I remember having a friend who passed during the pandemic and doing one night totally free of charge just to commemorate her memory.

If there is one unassailable presence in my life, one thing that remains constant there when everything else seems to change, it is music.

My dream within this dream is to help reharmonize and emit the resonance that our true essence can achieve. This year and the following my intention is to teach each other to connect the parts we all have chosen to accompany.

Music Speaks Volumes Music. The average American consumer spent 26.9 hours listening to music each week in 2019. A definite increase in 2020 statistics, after a year of lockdown. Music became more important. Tik Tok, I'm sure you've all heard of it, well with 800 million monthly users, the main feature is the music backed videos that have caused all the major trends in 2020, the pop music industry is almost reliant. But what does all this mean, are we becoming reliant on music to bring us through hard times? would the world end as we know it?
