Divorce - Drive to Goldenhammer - Album Review
I've been planning to review more music since the reviews I posted of Franz Ferdinand's The Human Fear and Mogwai's The Bad Fire. I loved the new album from Squid called Cowards—it's odd, and dark in context but with really interesting bright-sounding noises and strange lyrics. Very proggy too. I also love the new Japanese Breakfast album and the new Courting album. For today's review though, I wanted to talk about Divorce's debut album Drive to Goldenhammer.

The Role Of Music In Stress reduction
Stress is a complex condition that can affect every aspect of our lives. The way we think, feel, and interact with others. Stress is the leading cause of illness today and is responsible for a significant percentage of all doctor's visits. Reading a graph of psychological diagnoses over time creates a chilling realization that conditions of stress, anxiety, and depression have been on an exponential rise for the past 50 years. Research shows that depression will be the leading cause of disability worldwide. Richard Hovan says health is wealth and it's our responsibility to maintain our health. To maintain our health we can take the help of music.

The Underground Rhythm
A young DJ discovers a secret underground music scene hidden beneath the city. Ethan Parker had always believed that music was his destiny. As an aspiring DJ, he spent his nights mixing tracks in small clubs, dreaming of a breakthrough. But his life changed when he received an anonymous invitation to a party that promised to be unlike any other. It was an invitation to the unknown—a world beyond the mainstream. The address on the invitation led him to an abandoned subway station in the heart of the city. The moment he stepped into the cavernous space, he felt the pulse of bass vibrating through his body. The walls seemed to throb with an energy that made the very air hum. People were gathered around a makeshift stage, moving in perfect synchrony as if guided by an unseen force. He had arrived at a place that was more than just a party; it was a world unto itself. The beats he hears are unlike anything in the mainstream world. The DJ on stage wasn’t like any he had ever seen. His performance was mesmerizing. The music he played was raw and primal, mixing tribal drums with electronic pulses that seemed to blend seamlessly into one hypnotic rhythm. Ethan had never heard anything like it. Each beat seemed to sink into his skin, making his heartbeat quicken, syncing perfectly with the music. He tried to talk to the crowd around him, but no one responded. The people were in a trance, their eyes glazed over, lost in the rhythm. They didn’t speak; they just danced, moving with an eerie precision as if they were controlled by the music itself. It wasn’t just music—it was a force, something deep and primal that was calling to them. And now, it was calling to Ethan. As he dives deeper, he realizes the music holds a mysterious power. Ethan couldn’t stay away. Night after night, he returned to the underground station, drawn in by the music’s magnetic pull. The DJs changed, but the sound remained the same—always dark, always powerful, always hypnotic. As he continued to attend, he began to notice something strange: the same people were always there. They never seemed tired or worn out, as though they never left the underground world. One night, he met Vex—a mysterious, old producer who had been around since the beginning of the scene. Vex revealed a shocking truth: the beats weren’t just music. They were ancient rhythms, designed to awaken something within the human mind. Some people claimed the rhythms could make them see visions, while others whispered they could unlock hidden parts of the brain. But not all rhythms were meant for enlightenment. Some of them awakened something darker. Some rhythms bring people together, but others awaken something dangerous. The more Ethan listened, the more the music seemed to consume him. He began hearing the beats outside of the underground club, in the silence of his room, in the hum of the city. His dreams were filled with endless rhythms and flashing lights, and whispers of ancient voices telling him secrets he couldn’t comprehend. One night, he tried to leave the scene, overwhelmed by the intensity of it all. But the moment he stepped outside, the music seemed to follow him. The bass pulsed through the ground beneath his feet, shaking the entire station. He tried to run, but his body wouldn’t obey. The dancers, their faces void of expression, turned to him. Their bodies still moved to the beat, but their eyes… their eyes were empty, as if they were already lost to the rhythm. And then, Vex’s voice echoed through the speakers, sending a chill down Ethan’s spine. “Once you’ve heard the rhythm, you belong to it.” Ethan realized too late that he had become part of the underground scene, trapped in a never-ending cycle of hypnotic beats. He had tried to leave, but it was impossible. The rhythm had claimed him—body and soul—and there was no escaping it. The underground rhythm had taken root in his mind, and now he would be a part of it, forever lost in the music that never stopped playing.
