Before Dal Gong-gi had his wife and kids, he was the lead singer of VALENTINE COOKIE. Now in his thirties, he's convinced the K-Pop life is over. He's in for a shock when his former manager/ex-girlfriend, Flo Glitz knocks at his door. She forces him out of retirement in a new project as punishment for breaching his old contract.

Dal Gong-gi is now one half of Taegong with fresh-faced Gang Taeyang. Together they must convince the world that they are madly in love with each other. As Taegong dominate the charts with their catchy tunes, they touch the hearts of many. Gong-gi becomes conflicted between Flo Glitz's gun or fuel Taeyang's passionate attraction towards him.

This playlist serves as a soundtrack to my book, Taegong. It also serves as an LGBTQ+ playlist. It was a lot of fun putting this one together. As always I love the playlist challenges vocal have. I love music and I am having a blast writing a novel about a fictional boyband. Taegong‘s main influence are two massive groups: t.A.T.u. & BTS.

Ultimately, Taegong is a tale of two young men who find themselves through music and form a bond. At first they are told who they have to be, but then they do things their way. They learn to become allies and role models for the LGBTQ+ community and it inspires generations to embrace their true identity.

The Chaser - Infinite

This is a wonderful song with a great melody and catchy chorus. It’s a song about never giving up and staying positive. I know one K-Pop blog voted this as one of the best K-Pop songs of all time. This represents one of the songs Taeyang and Gong-gi sing for each other when their manager is forcing them to be lovey-dovey to fulfill her fetishes. At the same time, the two men are trying to define their own relationship.

Rising Sun - TVQX!

This is a song full of energy that matches the intensity of Taegong and Gong-gi’s relationship and how they pay for their goals in blood, sweat and tears. Great song for pride.

Nas Ne Dogonyat (Not Gonna Get Us) - t.A.T.u.

t.A.T.u.‘s famous for their lesbian image in their early formation as founded by their manager. What makes t.A.T.u. different is that Taegong for sure is in love with Gong-gi, but in the story, Gong-gi is unsure about his feelings as he feels things might still work out with his wife. The reason Gong-gi plays along with the image is because he is in a lot of debt and is desperate to pay it off and give his daughters a better life. During this, like many couples within LGBTQ+, there is scrutiny and lack of understanding amd this song is about running away from that to a place where only the couple understand each other.

Vysa Moya Lubov (All My Love) - t.A.T.u.

One of my favourite songs from this band. It’s a beautiful ballad and I also appreciate the imagery in the song that is lost if you don’t look up the lyric translations. I see this song in Taeyang’s point of view where he gives Gong-gi all his love.

Fake Love - BTS

Being a part of a fake romance takes a toll on both Gong-gi and Taeyang. On Taeyang’s side, his feelings are real. I plan to write a scene where they cover this song. This is there song.

Not Alone - Park Jung Min

I think this is a beautiful track that shows people that they are not alone. There is always somebody out there.

Don‘t Look At Me Like That - Song ji Eun

I found this song on another playlist and felt it resonated in me. It made me think of my characters as well.

LibidO - Onlyoneof

A Reddit user suggested this song to me when I was asking for songs that I could use for research and I was blown away by the production of the track.

Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode

Your own personal Jesus: someone to hear our prayer. Someone who cares.

Heavy Cross - Gossip

I loved Gossip when they first came out. I love Beth Ditto’s larger than life vocals and this was one of the tracks that mesmerised me as a teenager. K

Mystery of Love - Sufjan Stevens

I haven’t seen the film where this song is from, but I am halfway through Call Me By Your Name. Gorgeous track.

Home - Depeche Mode

One of the best songs Depeche Mode ever made. It makes you feel like you’re home and you belong somewhere. A wonderful edition to any pride playlist.

Gay Bar - Electric Six

This is an iconic rock song that deserves a place in many playlists. I see this fitting in the story where the guys are in the bars and being able to have the parties to end all parties.

My Sweet Prince - Placebo

The last song on this playlist is perhaps the deepest and most powerful. This song is set where there is tension between the couple and it seems unlikely that they will ever make up again.

Thank you for checking this playlist out. You can check the WIP chapters on Wattpad, Webnovel and on Vocal.
