A farmer saved his wife from the flood, but his child was drowned.

Afterwards, people talked a lot. Some say he did the right thing, because the child can have another, but the wife can not die and come back to life. Some said he had done wrong, because the wife could marry another, but the child could not be raised from the dead.

I listened to people's comments, also feel confused and difficult to decide: if only save a person, should save the wife, or save the child?

So I went to visit the farmer and asked him what he thought.

He replied, "I don't think of anything. When the flood came, my wife passed me. I grabbed her and swam to the nearby hillside. When I returned, the child had been washed away by the flood."

On the way back, I thought about the farmer's words and said to myself: if the farmer had hesitated a little, I could not have saved any of them. So much for the choice of life.

Two traveling angels went to spend the night with a wealthy family. The family was unfriendly to them and refused to let them spend the night in the comfortable guest bedroom, instead finding them a corner in the cold basement. As they were making their bed, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the young angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night, they went to a very poor farmhouse to spend the night. The host and his wife were very kind to them. They offered what little food they had, and then gave up their bed to the angels. Early the next morning, the two angels found the farmer and his wife crying. A cow, their only livelihood, had died. The young angel was very angry. He asked the angel how the first family had everything and the angel helped them mend the hole in the wall. The second family was so poor that the angel did nothing to stop the cow from dying.

"Things aren't always what they seem. "When we spent the night in the basement, I saw through the hole in the wall that the walls were full of gold. I filled in the hole in the wall because the master was too greedy to share his wealth. Last night, the God of Death came to call the farmer's wife, and I sent the cow in her place. So things aren't always what they seem.

Once upon a time, two hungry men received a gift from an old man: a fishing rod and a basket of live, large fish. One of them asked for a basket of fish, the other for a fishing rod, and they went their separate ways. The man who got the fish made a bonfire with dry wood and cooked the fish. He devoured the fish and did not taste the flavor of the fresh fish. In a moment, he ate up all the fish and soup, and soon he starved to death beside the empty fish basket. The other man went on starving with his fishing rod, and walked step by step toward the sea. But when he saw the blue ocean not far away, his last strength was gone, and he could only give up with endless regret.

Two more hungry people received a fishing rod and a basket of fish from the elder. They only cook one fish at a time. After a long journey, they came to the seaside. From then on, two people began their fishing life.

A person who only cares about the interests of the moment, will get a short joy; One aims high, but also faces the reality of life.
