Praying

I got the idea for this writing challenge and after I wrote it all out I felt a million different things.

Basically, you take a song and delve into the lyrics. I used the whole song because I wanted to but you could take just a few stanzas and write more based on that.

The song that I chose was Praying by Ke$ha. It's such a profound healing song in my mind. It became one of my favourites instantly.

Well, you almost had me fooled

Told me that I was nothing without you

Oh, but after everything you've done

I can thank you for how strong I have become

I honestly felt like nothing. I felt that way for a really long time. But after what you guys did to me, I have become the strongest version of myself. I wasn't fooled, I was blinded by the lights. Look at me now. The woman that stands before you. She is the biggest person you will ever meet. Thank you for that valuable lesson. I'm stronger than you think.

'Cause you brought the flames and you put me through hell

I had to learn how to fight for myself

I was always meek, and timid. You guys sure taught me how to fight for myself. I didn't even know I had this much fight left in me- but Here we are today.

And we both know all the truth I could tell

I'll just say this is "I wish you farewell"

Considering you cannot even hug me let alone tell me you love me, after years of betrayal, I just want to be able to share my truth with the world without shattering someone else's. Whenever I tried to do so, my trauma came out in the worst ways possible. The truth shines brighter than the lies. And I won't forget that.

Falling on your knees, prayin'

Pray for your sins. You can turn your nose up at me, call me whatever you want behind my back. I know I've made things right with the man upstairs. Can you say the same?

I'm about to walk into a new journey of my life. The best chapter yet. And as much as I want you to be a part of it I think I need to say my goodbyes and leave things be for the sake of my own inner peace. You, are not worth my energy and I will never ever forget it.

I'm going to build a damn good life for myself. I know it, and you know it. That's why you stomped on my dreams every chance you had. You broke my heart at such a young age by stomping on the broken pieces like a shattered glass figurine. I won't forget it.

But some things only God can forgive

Like I said before, I sure hope you've made things right with the man upstairs. I can forgive but I cannot forget and that's the worst kind of feeling ever to have.
