Introduction

Often, when I play a CD or a record, I take a photograph and share it on Instagram with the hashtag #OnThePlayerNow and a ninety second snippet of one of the songs. Click on the hashtag, and you will see the latest selection.

Initially, I thought I would share some of the music as a playlist, but there was not much interest from other creators. I thought I might publish a selction each time I shared another hundred; I have now passed sixteen hundred posts. Here is one of the playlists:

One thing I discovered as well is that I can use Instagram on my Kindle or phone to listen to the music I have shared when I am travelling:

I am still collecting vinyl, although I have now added the rarities I was chasing to my collection. Here are two which took a lot of chasing:

So I thought I would share some of the music I have been listening to once more.

The playlist starts here:

Joe Walsh - "Walk Away" from "You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind"

I think Pete Townshend once said that Joe Walsh was his favourite guitarist (or it might have been the other way round). They have similar styles; many of their songs are built on powerful block chord riffs, and this is a live take on one of them. I have this on vinyl and CD.

Sam Fender - "People Watching" Album Title Track.

I put off getting into Sam Fender because he is an acquaintance of an acquaintance of an acquaintance; then I heard "The Borders" and bought a signed picture disc of his first album, which is worth about ยฃ300 now, but if it is going anywhere, it will be to my granddaughter Alexis.

The title track of his latest album has a video featuring Andrew Scott. None of my Preston friends had heard of him, so I put them right, and am sharing this video with you.

Thousand Yard Star - "Comeuppance" from "Hands On"

I love the way that Thousand Yard Stare run their words together to make their song titles. I have seen them live once and have copies of all their stuff on CD and this is one of my vinyl copies that I shared.

Adam and the Ants - "Antmusic" from "Kings Of The Wild Frontier"

At a recent Carlisle visit Adam and the Ants came on the jukebox and Yvonne and Debbie eulogised about the msuci and band. I have two of their albums on vinyl and more on CD. Harry was not too impressed, but a still love the sound augmented bu their Burundi style drum section.

Steve Hillage - "The Salmon Song" from "Fish Rising"

I knew Steve Hillage from his time with Gong, and got to see him many times with and without Gong. He is still active today, but when this album came out I bought it without question and was not disappointed. It still gets played a lot today and I love the riff from "The Salmon Song", though it is quite a complex piece that I could never hope to play (although the riff is quite simple).

Brinsley Schwarz - "Country Girl" from "Original Golden Greats"

Brinsley Ernst Pieter Schwarz was the band leader (and became a member of several other bands including Ducks Deluxe and The Rumour) but the band also starred Nick Lowe. I love their country sound, although theuy were a London band.

Graham Parker and the Rumour - "Local Girls" from "Squeezing Out Sparks"

This was Graham's comeback album after the debacle of "The Parkerilla" with Mercury records. The band also includes Brinsley Schwarz. This was a recent vinyl purchase, although I have th eCD.

Conclusion

Thank yu so much for reading, I hope you found something you liked and you can hear a lot more by following me on Instagram, every post has a song with it.
