My Review of "Harry Style's Album: Harry's House"

A bit of a departure from his previous album. This is more of a whimsical and fun album than anything.

Harry Style's Album: Harry's House has recently come out in 2022. I remember 2 years ago I reviewed his album Fine Line. People seemed to like that review so I thought I'd give you my impressions on this next album of his.

For the most part the album is a bit of a departure from his previous album and that's to be expected. As an artist you have to continually reinvent yourself. Don't worry the difference isn't substantial. Those that loved his previous album will no doubt like this album just as much.

The themes for this album are different. In his last album there was a discovery of love and then losing that love. Each song was arranged so that you can go through the emotional ups and downs of a character who is experiencing this love and loss. This album is a lot more playful.

Here we have Harry playing around with a certain moment in a relationship. It feels like this character is stuck in a friends or aren't they friends moment. In a sense this makes sense because it is probably one of the most fun moments you have in a relationship and this corresponds to the music on this album.

This is why the songs sound fun and whimsical. If you've ever been in this stage of a relationship it gives you butterflies. It sparks an excitement inside you that you never thought was there. These songs perfectly portray these emotions in a fun energetic and colorful way.

Some of the songs has some sense of longing of a partner but not going that extra mile. These songs are obviously set in the perspective of one of the parties and this person is in love with their "friend". Even though their friend isn't totally aware of the lust this person has. In some songs it's not even about lust.

Some of the songs are about being there emotionally for their friend. There might not be a sexual lust for their counterpart. They're listening to their friend and understanding all their troubles. Here they're basically trying to tell their friend that they aren't alone. Don't feel bad for the decisions you have to make because you have to make them to move on with your life. At times the lust for the partner is all an assumption from the listener.

It's almost like watching a TV show but not really because you're listening to this conversation they have about their friend. In one of the songs called Matilda, I could have swore this song was based off the movie Matilda. It's basically like this kid that isn't treated right by her parents. I don't know if that's true but to me it reminded me of the movie. Deep down I hope that's what it is.

This time around we don't have as much of a connection for each of the arranged songs. There is still a common theme however there isn't really a big underlying story like he did in his last album. Still that doesn't mean the arrangement isn't done as well. It's just different.

Overall, I went into this album thinking it's going to be just as good as the previous album and for the most part I was right. The fact that he was able to reinvent himself and add new sounds to his album was great. I even like the fact that even though there weren't as many highs and lows in this album he was still able to diversify the sound with a variety of moods. I have to give this album an 8 out of 10. This is a pretty solid album that I would recommend, especially for those that liked his previous album.
