"Where words fail, music speaks." This quote holds profound meaning for me, as it resonates deeply within my beliefs. Throughout my life, music has consistently played a significant role. There have been moments when I've experienced certain emotions that are difficult to articulate with mere words. Like many others, I have faced both joys and challenges. I've been taken advantage of numerous times, endured the loss of loved ones, navigated through heartbreak, experienced love, and found solace in the beauty of life and laughter. When I immerse myself in a playlist, it becomes crucial to truly listen to the lyrics of the songs in order to grasp the essence of my life.

Allow me to begin with a song, which although melancholic, holds great significance for me. You may have come across it multiple times, but I find this cover version to be more compelling than the original because it accentuates the power of the lyrics. This particular song delves into the damaging effects caused by someone who had a profound influence on the narrator. The singer, being a people pleaser, had to alter their true self to keep the other person content. In essence, it describes a toxic relationship. The song I've chosen is "You Broke Me First," originally by Tate Rae, but in this instance, it is a cover by Conor Maynard. I connect with this song on a personal level because I once dated someone who shattered my spirit to the point where I lost my own identity.

The following songs played a pivotal role in helping me navigate through the aftermath of my breakup, serving as powerful tools for healing. In fact, there are two songs in particular that profoundly impacted me.

The first song, "Love Yourself," is a remarkable collaboration between Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber. This song's relatability is uncanny, as its lyrics resonate deeply with my own experiences. It allowed me to process the emotions surrounding the breakup and ultimately find solace.

The second song, "IDGAF" by Dua Lipa, became a significant part of my healing journey. Listening to it repeatedly helped me overcome the lies and deceit that plagued my previous relationship. It provided a sense of empowerment and enabled me to move forward in the healing process.

This particular song holds great significance for me, as it reflects a profoundly dark period in my life. I often struggle with seasonal depression, particularly during the winter months when I tend to isolate myself indoors. Listening to this song might evoke different emotions or prove challenging, especially if you've personally experienced similar struggles. Throughout my life, I've witnessed many friendships fade away, with friends moving on. This song captures that feeling exceptionally well, despite its upbeat tone. I encourage you to listen to the lyrics, as they convey the essence of this emotional journey. It's worth noting that this song also happens to be by one of my favourite bands at the moment, further deepening its significance to me.

I dedicate this song to my fiancé, who has been my unwavering support, especially during times when my own family falls short. Together, we share a strong belief in personal growth and the journey toward becoming better individuals as we mature and gain wisdom. Although this particular song may not be one of "our songs" in the traditional sense, it holds significant meaning for me and reminds me of him. It's quite ironic, as it belongs to a grunge indie band that I absolutely adore. Despite the contrast in genre compared to the pop songs mentioned earlier, it's this song that I find myself cranking up in my car, engulfed by its captivating energy.

When embarking on a new relationship, there inevitably comes a moment when conversations about past experiences and ex-partners arise. As I began dating my fiancé, I discovered that he had been on numerous dates with other girls. While I wouldn't typically label myself as a jealous person, our emotions can occasionally overpower us, leading us to relate to the singer-songwriter Julia Michaels and her song "All Your Exes."

This particular song struck a chord with me, as it encapsulates the complexities of navigating emotions and insecurities when confronted with a partner's romantic history. Julia Michaels' heartfelt lyrics resonate with the vulnerability and occasional unease that can surface in such situations. Despite recognizing that jealousy is not a defining characteristic of my personality, this song serves as a reminder of the relatable feelings that can arise in new relationships.

This next song holds a special place in my heart as it is dedicated to my beloved sisters. Throughout my life, my older sisters have always been there for me, providing support and guidance. When I think about our relationship, there is one song that truly captures its essence: "Three is a Magic Number," specifically the Disney version.

I recall fond memories of singing this song together in our parent's living room, creating cherished moments of togetherness and harmony. The lyrics of this song symbolize the bond we share as siblings, emphasizing the magic that comes from the unity of three. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the love and connection that exist between us, and how our shared experiences have shaped our lives.

This song holds the power to encapsulate my entire life, evoking a sense of joy and nostalgia. Its upbeat melody and energetic vibes transport me back to the cherished memories of my childhood. It represents a time filled with summer adventures, camping trips, and the exhilarating rush of cliff-jumping into refreshing waters. It also brings to mind the simple pleasures of building snowmen in the backyard, only to return indoors to savour hot chocolate and bask in its comforting warmth.

Furthermore, this song serves as a poignant reminder of the close bond I shared with my sisters during that time. We were inseparable, embarking on bike rides through the neighbourhood and exploring the nearby park together. It captures the spirit of unity and the carefree spirit that defined our relationship during those formative years. Listening to this song is like unlocking a treasure trove of treasured moments, filling me with a sense of happiness and gratitude for the memories we created together.
