Fandom Name

MooMoo (meaning radish)

Before Mamamoo had official light sticks, fans would wave real radishes while the group performed onstage.

First Song: “Mr. Ambiguous”

A groovy dance song about a man giving a womacn mixed signals about their interest in a relationship.

Most Recent Song: “4 Flowers”

Important song because it was their first in a couple of years with each member doing their own solo project. The song illustrates the girls' deep bond and unity.

About Mamamoo

They are a four-member South Korean girl group. They are widely known for their strong live vocal performances, perfect harmonies, and a versatile genre style spanning jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and ballads. They first rose to domestic fame with their single “Um Oh Ah Yeah” and participation in the music competition program Immortal Songs. They gained traction in international markets with their EP Purple and the song “Yes I Am.” They continue to make hit after hit and have received multiple awards and nominations in different music award programs, including the Asian Pop Music Awards, Seoul Music Awards, and Golden Disc Awards. Even though Hwasa and Wheein moved to other agencies to pursue solo work, all four girls still perform together as a group, most recently with their special single “4WARD” and their 2026 world tour.

Song That Got Me Interested: “You’re The Best”

They seemed so fun in the music video, and their vocals sounded superb. They had the type of vibe that made you want to join in and happily follow along.

Why I Love Mamamoo

There are not many groups or solo acts that I can list that have strong vocals like they do. Plus, they sound amazing live. Their live performances sound just like their recordings, which is not really all that common. Their vocals remind me of the likes of Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Toni Braxton. I wish they got more recognition for their extreme talent because they deserve to be up there with the greats due to their powerhouse voices. Plus, their songs have a strong sense of female empowerment, like “Yes I Am”, “Hip”, “Wanna Be Myself”, and “4x4ever.”

Favorite Song: “Yes I Am”

It is one of the most powerful girl anthems out there. It talks about rejecting societal norms, having confidence, and embracing your individuality. It is not just an awesome song to sing and dance to, but an important message for women that they are good enough and society doesn’t get to dictate who they want to be.
