Flames are hot and lovely flickering in orange and red, The flames of campfires with red embers rising into a dark sky, The soft flickering of candle flames or the flames of a warm fireplace. Lovely to gaze at and lovely to dream by.

“Shot Down in Flames” is a song that was recorded by legendary Australian rock band AC/DC. The song was released in 1979 and is on their album Highway to Hell. The song comes at you with a raw, energetic sound. The lyrics are of a person's pursuit of connection and affection unfortunately they get turned down every which way they turn. This makes “shot down in flames” a powerful metaphor for experiencing the pain of rejection.

“Your Loving Flame” is a song recorded by singer and songwriter Paul McCartney. The song is featured on his 2001 album Driving Rain and was released as a jukebox single in 2002. McCartney first performed the song live in 1999 during his interview on “Parkinson” with David Gilmour playing the guitar solo. The live version is featured on the albums Back in the US (2002) and Back in the World (2003). It was also performed live at the Nobel Peace Prize awards in 2001.

“Flames of Love” is a popular dance-pop song that was recorded by German singer and songwriter Fancy in 1988. It became an instant hit and to this day remains one of the most iconic songs of the era. The lyrics are both poetic and enigmatic and the song revolves around the theme of passionate love and its lasting impact on a person's life.

The original recording was by American singer and songwriter Del Shannon and is featured on his album Runaway with Del Shannon. The most successful and well-known version is the one recorded by Elvis and charted on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Easy Listening charts. The song went to number one on the UK Singles chart and is one of Elvis's nine UK chart-toppers between 1960 and 1962.

“A New Moon, an Old Flame and You” is a song that was recorded by Canadian singer Anne Murray. It is a beautiful and nostalgic song about past love.

“See the Embers, Feel the Flame” is a song recorded by American country music band Alabama and released in 1981. It is featured on their 1981 album Feels So Right. The album became their first album to rise to number one on the Billboard Top Country Album chart. The title track was “Old Flame”. RIAA certified the album Quadruple Platinum.

“Old Flames Cannot Hold a Candle to You” is a song recorded by American country music singer and songwriter Merle Haggard. The song was co-written by Pebe Sebert and Hugh Moffatt. It was originally recorded by American country music singer and songwriter Dolly Parton. In the song, the metaphor of a candle symbolizes the light and warmth someone brings into our lives. While other loves have come and gone there is one that stands out from the rest. Like a candle against the wind.

"Eternal Flame" is a song that was recorded by the American pop-rock band The Bangles. It is featured on their 1988 album Everything. This is a power ballad that was written by band member Susanna Hoffs along with the songwriting team of Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. The song went to number one in nine countries. The band had come into the limelight with their popular hit “Walk Like an Egyptian”.
