The Concept behind this project

Listening to Doja Cat’s new album wasn’t something I had in mind. But with anyone that I’d discovered over the Internet especially live streamers from Periscope originally, I just couldn’t help myself.

To describe Planet Her as a body of work, you’d have to close your eyes and imagine what pop music looks like as vibrations and sound. To me, this album is a big kaleidoscope of emotions and feelings to a perspective of a female who is empowered and has Doja Cat insenuating sensual urges to be sexually liberated in a modern era that solidified it. Doja Cat delivers an Afro pop and often times, Trap tempo sound production line of catchy songs and melodic courses throughout most of the project.

Track analysis

Songs like women and naked, exhibit the feminist prowess of sexual energy that only a female can perform while demonstrating influence over politics and even leadership with business and everything in between. These two songs are Afropop centrist with a catchy hook throughout the production.

Payday which feature Young Thug, illustrates how in the music industry, your hard work and efforts are divided to pay off you and the team that helped Doja Cat write produce and sell her Merch as well as concerts and shows. Although it’s not a standalone track necessarily, it fits perfectly within the confines of planet her as it illustrates female empowerment through economic success Within the music industry. I would say personally, Young Thug‘s contribution with a verse didn’t help particularly but I can see where they needed a crossover for a multitude of audiences jump a wagon to the star with Doja Cat’s ability to make anthems pertaining to female empowerment and your ability to earn income that goes beyond Minimum wage.

Get Into It appears to be a homage to Nicki Minaj who probably had some ghost riding contribution to this particular track. It’s a song that most young women can dance to in front of their mirrors, or drive and karaoke to on their way to /from work or to see a lover they’re going to Netflix & Chill with. It’s catchy, but I don’t believe it’s catchy enough. And you would have to listen to it more than once for it two truly grow on you.

One of the biggest songs that caught my eye was I don’t do drugs featuring Ariana Grande. Definitely a catchy song with melodic hook that will get stuck in your head and has replay value. The song demonstrates individuals being addicted to their sexual partner in such a way as if they’d get hook to them like You would on drugs. Throughout the day and even while I was at the gym, I caught myself humming and melodic chorus or at least partial elements of the song being stuck in my head.

Options feat JID is most definitely a mirror of the modern dating scene in the 2020s pertaining to female superstardom and their endless options of men due to social media and dating apps. With Doja Cat being famous on the other hand, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t need a Tinder profile and can easily engage in sex with groupies.

Ain’t Shit it’s basically a modernize version of the TLC song no scrub, with an updated 2020s twist. As most females in this era seem to go out with men who are broke and only really use them for sex . But as soon as there’s no further contributions from these men they poorly choose to date, like not paying the bills half-and-half or providing any other emotional support beyond sex, women become bitter and sulk about how men aren’t shit. This song of course, has made it to the top 200 chart list on Apple Music and it’s probably radio Spinnable.

You it’s a very smooth, smoky and spacey production about what happens when a woman is trapped in a relationship that doesn’t make her happy which results in her looking for something on the side that might be better , whichresults to infidelity. I’d say the production on this particular song is smooth whilst the lyrics are reminiscent of today’s modern dating scene of endless options for women. Or how even if they’re with someone, there’s always a better guy that she could replace their current boyfriend with all thanks to Instagram and Tinder.

Kiss Me More Featuring SZA definitely gives me roller rank vibes mix with 70s funk and soul With a touch of 2020s pop. I will never forget the time I actually heard this song:It was an early April 2021 when I was riding my bike at Point State Park with a friend from out of town. I happen to listen to it for the first time on my AirPod pros with Dolby Atomos Spatio audio. It was the most immersive experience I ever endured. This track definitely is Pop and has replay value. I’m pretty sure you’ve already heard the song millions of times throughout the spring of 2021 and is a standout song that will probably be talked about if ever VH1 produces a show online or on TV about popular songs of the 2020s.

Overall

Afropop melodic Chours and pop ballots sprinkled throughout the project makes this a solid commercial Album for females who want to feel empowered but have a little bit of fun in the process. It’s a step above Doja Cat’s last Album 2019 titled Hot Pink but as a foot in the door for Doja Cat’s prosperous yet to come career in pop.
