The creation of Valentine's day is a muddled, violent and brutal punishment of two gay lovers whom were executed by decree of Emperor Claudius II. While those that celebrate their love through notes, roses, and chocolate are blessed with (hopefully) finding their significant other- I and perhaps the rest of the world can celebrate through songs and the relief that the burden of making someone else happy is absolutely ridiculous when the only lover is ourselves (and the chocolate we can divulge in without the need of sharing). With this in mind, here is a list of one of my favorite anti-Valentine's Day songs in which to dance to, cry to, or even make love to in celebration of staying single and being yourself:

Send My Love (To Your New Lover) by Adele from Album "25"

Everyone who has ever had a bad break-up has gotten some kind of inspiration to put in their work, whether through song creation, painting, writing a story, or (Jack Whitehall's idea) making others laugh about it. Everyone wants "to be Adeled". The "Rolling in the deep" singer gives a newfound sense through simple acceptance and throwing away a lover with a positive attitude compared to the cutthroat of her predecessor song counterpart.

All Falls Down by Alan Walker, Noah Cyrus, and Digital Farm Animals

Not quite sure if this song referred to pining over a lover or a close friend, but being fine is what it's all about when things fall apart.

It Ends Tonight by All-Americans Rejects

The "Gives you Hell" band was able to see the light by ending the darkness of a toxic relationship.

better off by Ariana Grande

This "7 rings" singer embraces 'being a wild one' than getting tied down in a relationship. Her remedy: shopping sprees with pals and a friends with benefits that prove her life can be extremely amazing.

Wildfire by Bean

While I did not know about this pop singer and only started listening to some of her songs that were free to download on iTunes, I must say she has a wonderful and upbeat voice for someone that rode rollercoasters in her love life. This singer rose through heartbreak like a phoenix in this song.

Alive!! by Becca (2010)

This is the title of the full CD from my overall favorite solo-studio album with songs including Alive!, Turn to Stone, Kickin' & Screamin', Make You Mad, and Perfect Me with colorful pop-rocking that expresses the raw emotions of breakups and heartache.

Sit Still, Look Pretty by Daya

This singer refuses to change her lifestyle for boys and 'would rather fly solo'. She also has an open mind and is willing to search for the good boys that "Hide Away".

Call Me When You're Sober by Evanescence

Amy Lee has a voice of a rock angel that made up her ex's mind in this song by leaving. Her most recent debut in my radar is the album "The Bitter Truth". A synthesized acapella version of Amy Lee's most popular songs are in the album before called "Synthesis".

Used to Love You, Red Flag and Me Without You by Gwen Stefani

The Voice judge debuted her album "This Is What the Truth Feels Like" as she continued to file the divorce with Gavin Rossdale.

You should be sad, Forever...(is a long time), Dominic's Interlude, I HATE EVERYBODY, Still Learning and 929 by Halsey

The "Nightmare" singer created the alternative song collection Maniac CD, which expresses the search for experimentation and inner self love.

Last but not least one of the top pop songs today in featuring an Anti-Valentine's Day vibe is Dua Lipa's "Don't Stop". The artist makes a complete 180 degree turn in a break up by going dancing.

Most of my favorite songs come from pop and rock, each artist having variety and flair with their approach in heartbreak and learning to love the self than attempting to please another broken half. Valentine's Day is a sappy day, filled with gifts that not many couples would ever hand out on a daily basis- questioning whether that special feeling of love only happens once a year. These songs listed challenge this holiday through examination of what love really means when infatuated with a person: the horror of what happens when nobody receives balloons and candy from someone anymore. For singles, it may be tough to celebrate a holiday based on partners alone but at least this playlist can help by seeing what many lovers may go through after that honeymoon phase is over.
