She quickly became an icon because many people could relate to her not being so'superstar-ish,' and another group of people could relate to her not being so 'feminine!' She was the ultimate rule-breaker, and she was celebrated for 'being herself.'

She didn't fit into the social conventions created for women, but something happened that prompted her followers to unfollow her from Instagram, where she has over 90 million followers. She lost 100,000 followers in just a few hours after posting this photo here —

She discarded her former image as the 'bad girl,' 'rule-breaker,' and appeared more in line with how a woman is supposed to be in this photograph. Perhaps more feminine? Perhaps this is what prompted a large percentage of her supporters to unfollow her. Eilish had the following to say about it all:

"People develop an affinity to these recollections." However, it is extremely dehumanizing. Just because of the boobs, I lost 100,000 followers. Big boobs frighten people." Billie Eilish

People aren't afraid of huge boobs, I'm sure, but they are undoubtedly sad that Eilish succumbed to Hollywood's songs and orchestration, and finally subjected herself to the same people she railed against (or appeared to!).

This entire scenario reminds me of the Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana tale, where she was first a cherished, admired adolescent sensation, a role model for many girls all over the world, but as she matured and developed her own identity, people felt angry.

Cyrus, Miley (before and after)

Parents were fed up with their daughters idolizing Miley Cyrus. She had morphed from an obedient daughter and a great vocalist into a brat, a hyper-sexualized woman who was nothing less than a negative influence on the teen girls.

It did occur. And as a child of the 1990s, I was there to witness it. When I watch Billie Eilish being dragged into a similar narrative, I feel like history is repeating itself. She represented herself by dressing in the manner in which she want to be clothed. She no longer resembles the depressed kid who creates depressing tunes.

She's nothing more than a modern-day Avril Lavigne. I recall my classmates idolizing her in school, and now those same classmates are married with children and living a very devout life – the very thing they used to reject years ago!

Superstars, singers, actors, and celebrities, like the rest of us, go through phases. They evolve. They change. They are adaptable and learn.

It is sometimes necessary for them to do so in order to shift from being a young artist to being accepted into the adult profession. They might do it to be taken seriously by those around them. And sometimes they do it simply because they believe their adolescent years are over. They, too, must evolve, grow, and change.

Following or unfollowing someone is entirely a personal choice, but as mature adults, we must recognize that the person we like will not remain the same throughout their lives. They must grow and break out of their shell.

They might not have the same beliefs and ideologies that you were looking for, but that's okay. When you are so close to someone evolving, you will evolve as well.

Perhaps this will help you adjust your own mentality and see the world as an ever-evolving, ever-changing, living organism!

Many people continue to follow Miley Cyrus and have been her ardent followers since her Hannah Montana days, and they have witnessed her development, change, and transformation. They witnessed her falling in love with Hemsworth and their relationship and marriage deteriorating.

They witnessed her breakdowns and emotions through her music and social media posts. And I believe you can learn a lot from it all. Any person's entire life graph, whether you respect, follow, or simply observe, might become a life lesson for you. There are people on social media who have had breakdowns and had their moments, and I admire them purely for being honest.

There are some fantastic profiles on Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms where people talk about life and growing up so much that you wind up becoming a part of their circle and their lives. You can eventually see yourself learning from their experiences.

Shutting someone down for being who they are will have no effect on them, but will undoubtedly have an impact on you.

After Billie Eilish, you'll look for another celebrity who wears baggy clothes and is an emo kid who writes gloomy songs. Eilish will grow into someone else, but you'll be right there, looking for fresh emo-teens every few years.

If you wish to live there for the rest of your life, that is your personal option. But Eilish or Cyrus aren't going to stop for you. They will not be the same teen-girls for the rest of their lives simply because they began as one. It is up to you to adjust to and embrace the change. That's why more than 100,000 people unfollowing Eilish because of her move is insane!

Why is Ridiculous?

Because those that unfollowed her were the same individuals who admired her for being'real' and 'who she is.' And suddenly, they conclude that Eilish in a corset or tight-fitting garments isn't the real Eilish, but the industry compelled her to be one of them. Isn't that hypocritical?

This is my take on Eilish losing a large amount of followers for no apparent reason— what do you think? Please share your ideas in the comments section below.
