Do you ever get that feeling of emptiness in you, that feeling when you just lie down and stare blankly at the walls and do absolutely nothing for hours on end? Well, I’ve made a playlist for it. Here’s a combination of my top songs for when you feel nothing and everything all at once, a playlist for when your emotions are all over the place. You’ll probably recognize some from movie and TV show soundtracks, or maybe you’re just a fan of some of these artists!

These songs are listed in no particular order, I also haven’t been able to upload every official album cover, but I tried my best to keep it accurate.

1. "Walking All Day" by Graham Coxon

Okay, so as you can tell from the picture, this song is from the soundtrack of the TV show The End of the F***ing World, which if you haven’t watched yet please stop reading and go watch it now!! It’s one of my favorite TV shows ever. Everything about this show is phenomenal: the cast, the plot, the cinematography, and obviously the soundtrack! I was drawn by this specific song when it played in the show and needed to add it to all of my playlists! I don’t even know what words to use to describe it, it’s just such an enjoyable tune and the lyrics are nice to listen to too (despite them being a little weird)!

2. "I Don’t Mind" by Defeater

Alright, so this is one of those songs I discovered through my suggested tracks on Spotify. I don’t actually know anything about Defeater or even another song, so if you have any suggestions let me know! But despite all this, "I Don’t Mind" is one of my favorite songs to listen to when I’m feeling that empty sensation I was talking about at the beginning. This song is extremely relaxing to listen to, and the lead singer’s voice really makes it calming.

3. "Garbage Truck" by Sex Bob-Omb

Alright, here’s yet another song from a movie soundtrack. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is one of those manic pixie dream girl movies that everyone loves, and I’m truly obsessed with it (especially because of Ramona Flowers). The Sex Bob-Ombs are actually quite a decent band that I’d totally listen to if they were a real band. This is definitely one of those movies I’d expect most people around my age to know because let’s be real, it’s iconic.

Also, another song from this soundtrack that could be added to the playlist is "Ramona".

4. "Awful Things" by Lil Peep and Lil Tracy

So I know Lil Peep’s music isn’t for everyone, but I really wanted to add this song to the list because I’m in love with it. I’m not really into the “SoundCloud rapper” kind of music myself and I understand if you aren’t too, but Lil Peep was—in my opinion—really talented, and some of his songs/lyrics are definitely worth listening to. Along with this song, I’d also suggest listening to: "U Said", "Beamer Boy", "Girls", and "The Brightside".

5. Literally All of the 'In Tongues' EP by Joji

Realistically speaking, I’d want you to listen to "Demons", "Pills", "Bitter Fuck", and "Will He". But this EP is only about 15 minutes long, 15 minutes of pure breathtaking music. So you should be able to listen to it all in one go. Joji holds a special place in much heart (and in every single one of my playlists). When this EP came out, I was in a really strange place in my life, that empty feeling came up really often and this is all I would listen to on repeat. It’s an amazing experience, it all sounds like one big 15-minute song. Bonus points if you listen to it whilst being high.

6. "Constant Headache" by Joyce Manor

Much like "I Don’t Mind", I also discovered this song through my suggested tracks. But unlike most music in this list, "Constant Headache" is a little less peaceful when it comes to the tune of it. Nonetheless, I still believe it suits this playlist.

7. "Motion Picture Soundtrack" by Radiohead

Also from a movie soundtrack, this Radiohead song is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, everything about it makes me emotional, I get the feels just listening to it. If you’re wondering which film it’s from, it’s I Origins. I also recommend this movie to everyone, I went through a phase where I was extremely obsessed with this movie and really related to one of the characters in it. Although I’m not as obsessed with it now, I still believe it is one of the best movies I’ve seen, and this song fits perfectly with it.

8. "We Might Be Dead By Tomorrow" by Soko

This song is also in the soundtrack of the show The End of the F***ing World and is the second song I am most obsessed with from that TV series. Soko’s voice is so incredibly soothing, and this song is beautifully written. Everything about it is amazing. I could listen to this all day on repeat. The whole damn soundtrack gives me the feels.

9. "Miserable at Best" by Mayday Parade

Image taken from Spotify

Mayday Parade is definitely one of best bands for this sort of feeling too. I could list so many different songs from them that would fit this playlist so well. Honestly, if you only want to just listen to one artist on repeat when you’re like this, listen to Mayday Parade, half of their songs make me wanna cry but it’s chill, I’m good... I promise... (totally not crying).

10. "Northern Downpour" by Panic! at the Disco

Image taken from Spotify

Last but certainly NOT least, no playlist would be complete without some Panic! music. Brendon Urie is here to cure you from your summer slump. Any song from P!ATD would do really, but I decided to go with one of the oldies. This one is for your inner emo teenager. Everyone loves Panic!

So, in conclusion: I’m obsessed with soundtracks. I get very emotional over songs. All of these are what I’d recommend you listen to when you’re feeling a little “meh”. And if you stuck through all this, here are some extra songs for you:

  • "Two Good Things" by Modern Baseball
  • "On The Road" by Sunset Sons
  • "Twelve Feet Deep" by The Front Bottoms
  • "Laughing On The Outside" by Bernadette Carroll

That’s all folks!
