How a Barefoot Queen Became My Tour Guide in Seville
Dear Reader, Reading a historical novel set in the country or city you are about to visit can be magical. I have always preferred to read fiction instead of watching movies. It gives me an opportunity to take a break from the real world, and disappear into a fantasy full of heroic characters and exciting locations.

The Monster OfJealousy
“Wow, Lily, I never thought you were that kind of girl,” says my stepsister Julie. “What do you mean?” I ask. I am in the kitchen cleaning up after my sister’s birthday dinner. She has invited her friends, me and out of duty, also our stepsister Julie. She is family, no matter how we try our best to ignore it. We live in a small town where everybody knows each other and Julie would have found out about the party, anyway.

Does Practice Make Perfect?
It’s Friday night at the football field. Standing against the fence, I cheer as Zach scores again. I love watching him play, but so do the preppy cheerleaders with their Colgate smiles. I’ve never understood the appeal of becoming a cheerleader. Why dance to get attention when you can play on the field? Or be in a musical? Or paint a mural? Something with a purpose!

How three amazing writers made me who I am
I want to tell you a story about how other great writers’ words made me the person I’m today. I wouldn’t be the writer I’m if it wasn’t for three famous Danish authors: Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875), Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855), and Karen Blixen (1885-1862), are my coaches, my inspirators, my partners in crime and my all-time role models.
