I write to you
But not in vain
My nights are filled with silence Your laughter Your voice Only an echo of memory The walls hold only a reminder Of happier times

You told me when I was young that you’d be there through it all You showed this when I would come home crying because I couldn’t take it anymore

These are my battle scars Some are deep Some are shallow Some were the cause of your words and some of my own But none were meant to cut my life short
You're surrounded by those stronger, taller, ALIVE But keep in mind that not one of them had it easy They've encountered winds strong enough to tear them apart
Falling away Only to be blown away Into nothingness It’s sorrows and grief told in stories deep within its roots Only to fall away in a fire of yellows and reds

As a kid you thought you would have it made But now you wait until you get paid Just to dump it all into bill after bill As you pop pill after pill
