Top 5 Things I Want from Disney's 'Mulan' Remake
So Disney is making a live action remake of every single animated movie ever. TheLion King just came out and a trailer for the 2020 Mulan was recently released. This is the only live action/CGI Disney remake that I am interested in, because I believe the original has a lot of potential for improvement. The original stuff like Lion King and Aladdin still holds up and does not need to be remade. But the original Mulan, while it has good ideas, they aren't always executed that well.

Marvel Phase 4 or That time I skipped an entire phase of Marvel films
Comic-Con, it's a thing! This year Marvel announced their line up of films and shows for the MCU's forth phase, and it's just... kind of underwhelming. I don't know, maybe I'm a cynical asshole, but where are the big guns? These are all d-list characters, and their doesn't seem to much crossover movies either. I wish I was interested, but I just have this overwhelming feeling of meh.

Thinger Strangs 3: The More Things Strange, the More They Stay the Same
I think I liked this season of Stranger Things, but it also left me feeling just a bit underwhelmed. In some ways it’s an improvement on the last season, but in others I feel like it doesn’t try as hard. I don't really have a hot take or anything, but once I got started I realized I had a lot to say, so here we go. Oh yeah, spoilers.

Guy Who Hates Musicals Reviews Disney Classics
So my mom is a music teacher, which meant that growing up meant watching a lot of musicals when I was little. Which led to a general disdain for musicals as I grew from a little kid into a rebellious youth. I don’t hate all musicals, I just hate it when characters burst into song for no reason and sing for three minutes about nothing when they could be getting on with the story. Musical numbers are like action scenes, in that they shouldn’t be there for no reason and should serve to drive the story forward or at least develop the characters in some way. But for some reason, more often than not, musicals just throw in songs randomly, purely for the sake of having songs. Like it’s great that the rock-trolls are happy that Reindeer Boy brought a girl home, but dammit we don’t have time for this, Anna’s gonna die if you don’t unfreeze her heart soon! In a weird twist, I actually don’t mind operas, because every scene is told through music, which forces them to progresses the story with each scene. You know, like a movie. But with musicals, they usually squander their use of songs throughout the movie, and most of the time the song ends and I’m like, “Yeah, you probably could’ve cut that.” And if you can cut a scene, you probably should. Ever notice how there is significantly less musical numbers in most Disney movies during the second half, once the story kicks in? It’s almost as if you didn’t need them at all to tell the story.

What the 'Link's Awakening' Remake Means for the Future of Zelda
I'm really excited for the Nintendo Switch remake of TheLegend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. First of all, I have not played the original Link's Awakening, so this is the perfect time for me to give it a shot.

How in the World Is 'Carmen Sandiego' This Good?
On today's episode of Netflix cartoons that are way better than they have any right be: Carmen Sandiego. After Voltron, Castlevania, She-Ra and now Carmen Sandiego, I think it's fair to say that Netflix has somehow cracked the code on making cartoons out of 80s properties that have very little business even deserving reboots in the first place. Plus, with Castlevania, this now makes two shows adapting video games that are good. I think the closest Hollywood has come is Prince of Persia with Jack Gyllenhaal, so that's pretty impressive.

I Like 'Skyward Sword'
I still kinda like The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. That's right. You heard me. Allow me to explain. Skyward Sword was my first Zelda game so it holds a special place in my heart. It was the 25th anniversary of the series, and the hype around the game was pretty real. So I figured this would be the perfect time to get into the series. And it worked. If it weren’t for Skyward Sword, I probably would’ve never played Ocarina of Time, Link Between Worlds, Wind Waker, Breath of the Wild or even the original Zelda on the NES. I never would have fallen in love with this world and these characters or played these much better games. So let's get into it.

Unpopular Opinion: 'Majora's Mask' Is Not a Masterpiece
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is a groundbreaking game with incredible storytelling and characters. Move over Netflix's Bandersnatch, Nintendo was doing multiple timelines and interactive storytelling decades ago. Majora is definitely one of the most emotional Zelda games out there. There’s this constant feeling of impending doom, and a real sense of urgency. You have to succeed. You have to do everything perfect, because if you don’t, people will die. But I think that’s why I don’t really like the game.

'The Dragon Prince' Is Almost Great
'The Dragon Prince' Episode 1 Impressions: The Dragon Prince is a fairly new animated fantasy show on Netflix created by Justin Richmond and Aaron Ehasz, the later of which worked on Avatar: The Last Airbender. I was interested in this show not only because of Ehasz's involvement, but also because Netflix recently announced a live action series adapting ATLA. I realized that I have no interest in that adaptation whatsoever and would rather see something original and new. So I sat down and watched the first episode, and already I have much to say.
