For Riley
I love my little sister. Riley is innocent, caring, and the smartest seven year old girl I ever knew. Then again, I’m only thirteen and don’t have many friends that are my sister’s age. My older brother, Ryan, is a junior in high school and always pretends to be too cool to hang out with his middle school brother or kindergarten aged sister. The only time that he’s willing to spend time with us, or at least be in each other’s presence, is when all of us go to our old family barn once a month and his girlfriend, Eileen, gets to tag along. I don’t mind her though because she sometimes brings us cookies from the shop she worked at in the mall. "Here's your box of cookies, Corey!" She would hand over and I would gladly take.

Strong Bat and a Scared Rabbit
Finding a new movie or series to watch after finishing one almost seems impossible after devoting your time and emotions into a story. I most definitely felt this way after watching the newly released Zack Snyder’s Justice League. After years of anticipation, starting with just the tease of an idea and with the help of an audience, Zack Snyder was finally able to work on and release his version of the Justice League. The Snyder Cut is the perfect resurrection and restoration of the Justice League after having to endure the Joss Whedon’s 2017 Justice League, in which was full of boredom and CGI so bad that I had to cover my cat’s eyes so she didn’t have to watch the horror that was Superman’s CGI’d upper lip. I still get chills just thinking about it.

Red Light Stranger
About six years ago on my way to work, I came to a stop at a red light and happened to look over to the car that pulled up next to me. It was a young woman that was crying and had wiped away a tear. 14,000,605 different scenarios quickly flooded my brain, trying to think of what had happened and what caused her to be so sad.

Comforting Deals
Full disclosure: I am a sucker for advertisements. It all started as a kid growing up in the 90’s, having the best catchy commercials thrown into my face by cleverly forcing themselves in between episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark and Rocko’s Modern Life. “Hey, where’s the cream filling?” I used to ask aloud, rummaging through the pantry in search of a Hostess cupcake. And yes, I was happily a Toys ‘R Us kid that didn’t want to grow up. But 30 years later, grown older with no cable subscription and not minding to pay the extra fee to skip the hemorrhoid cream commercials on Hulu, advertisements have found their way back to me in my mailbox and on my Facebook and Instagram feed. Now, I find that I'm a sucker for discounts rather than catchy tunes.

Spring Forward and Onward
“Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work.” -Gustave Flaubert Looking up at the night sky at the beginning of Spring, seeing stars and distant galaxies, there appears to be order from afar, but certainly chaos up close; the story of my life. It wasn’t that long ago that I realized that I am merely a welcomed guest in this universe, and was given the opportunity, by chance, to be able to exist and enjoy its scenery and provided with a brain to help unravel its mysteries; I suppose it’s up to me to decide what type of guest I am going to be. This is a question I can’t help but ask myself far too often.
