The Pizza BoyTop Story - September 2023
This is a special post this week from The Guest. --- "Another pizza delivery boy has gone missing last night. Jonathan Harting's car was found abandoned in a ditch off Carter Avenue around 2 a.m. after he departed from his work to deliver to a nearby neighborhood. When he didn't return for over an hour and wouldn't answer his boss' call, he called the police to declare him missing. This marks the seventh delivery boy who has vanished in the past three months since the first, a Larry Wil…" The sound of the news drifted off as Scott looked out the window to see one of his delivery boys run through the rain in a hurry to get into his car.

Medium vs. Vocal
We have been Medium writers for almost 2 years now and recently decided to try out Vocal Media. We thought we would share our first impressions of the platform with you, as well as how it compares to Medium. This post will be based on our first month on Vocal. We plan on doing a follow-up post in a few months.

The Moon Guard
I stared down at the ring I was just handed. The small chunk of Moon radiated with a silver glow. I slipped the ring onto my left pointer finger, admiring its beauty as I moved my hand side to side. I’d always dreamed of this day, fully acquiring my cloud abilities.

The Seer - Part 4
The next quarter moon arrived and we are on high alert. Me most of all. It’s my job to find the dhaceen on the other side of the barrier before it crossed over. We need to be ready to attack and get back the missing pieces of the artifact before the hole in the barrier is sealed back up.

The Seer - Part 3
“You must be Celestials,” the dhaceen hissed. He took a step closer and his eyes darkened like a storm cloud sweeping through them. The human disguise seemed to falter, his aura was so dense, so evil that the darkness radiated from his body as if it was made of black smoke.

The Seer - Part 2
The next night Lana makes plans to spend the evening with her boyfriend, so I make plans with Liam. We grabbed some dinner from the student union and take it to a table outside, so we can avoid being overheard. The faint white glow continued to surround Liam wherever we go. I can hardly wait until we are seated to ask him about it.

The Seer
I have one green eye and one brown eye. The green eye sees truth, but the brown eye sees much, much more. The green eye is easy to read. If someone is telling the truth, their aura will be white. A lie will turn their aura a deep red. An aura can also have a spectrum of shades depending on how deceitful a person is being. For example, an intentional omission would turn their aura a soft pink. A lie told for a good reason would be bright red.

The Last Druid
Kiery Courtree was the last living druid, and that was why the sorcerers came to her. They found her in her garden, where she spent most afternoons. She strolled through the flowers, as vines followed at her fingertips. It was the vines that alerted her to the visitors’ presence on her land.

Blood Moon
Trees whizzed past in a blur. The sodden soil sunk beneath her weight, as dirt chunks flew up with each clawed paw that effortlessly navigated the forest. The moon was high, and its fullness glimmered above through the tree line. All that could be heard was the rhythmic thumping of paws and the wind whipping.

The Long-Forgotten
The wind whispers through the dark, empty trees like a warning in a foreign language. Winter is here, and with winter comes the long-forgotten. The winter chill could mask the cold of their undead bodies as they sought a new home among the living. Their blue lips and frost-kissed hair wouldn’t stand out among the towns in the north. It was only with the change of the seasons that they were discovered, still pale and stiff, but by then it would be too late.

The Dragon in the Cave
It was raining again outside the dragon’s cave; he could hear the faint pitter-patter of the droplets against the earth as he let out a small fire from his snout. It turned the moisture in the air to steam, and he sighed in relief as he settled deeper into his bed of gold coins. The clang of coins and treasure shifted under his weight. It had been a fortnight since a human wandered into his cave. He didn’t particularly care for humans, always storming in with their pointy, shiny sticks, trying to take his gold. Maybe if they would ask nicely he would share, but none ever did.
