Kukla Fran and Ollie are fondly remembered
A popular children's program KUKLA FRAN and OLLIE was a popular children's television show starring comedian Fran Allison. It was initially broadcast from Chicago between 1947-1957 but I recall watching it as a little girl during the mid-1960s. I assume this meant the show was in syndication. It has been reported that more than half of the viewing audience was made up of adults who watched with their young ones and enjoyed the innocence of the puppets. There was never a script and every single episode was 100% ad-libbed by Fran and her friends.

Tonto was so much more than the Lone Ranger’s sidekick
The Lone Ranger The Lone Ranger and Tonto might not mean much to younger generations but these characters are near and dear to the hearts of baby boomers and their parents. Boomers are now between the ages of 57 and 73 and their parents are at least age 80 or above. These individuals grew up enjoying Saturday morning Westerns and continue to be able to watch them today thanks to retro TV and streaming service. The Lone Ranger can currently be seen at night on the CIRCLE network.

'The Andy Griffith Show' common denominator for Barney Fife, Helen Crump, and Otis Campbell
THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW ran on CBS from 1960-1968. This iconic series has continued in reruns and not been off the air for 61 years. Fans enjoy the episodes six decades later as much as they did when they first aired. The cast became like family to the viewing audience and each Mayberry resident is special for their unique individual personalities. There are three cast members, however, who have something specific in common that gives them a special distinction related to their time on the show.

Maverick the television Western
MAVERICK was a Western television series that ran on ABC for five seasons from September 22, 1957, to July 8, 1962. There were a lot of changes along the way that ultimately led to the show being canceled. Initially, James Garner was the star as a poker player and sometimes con artist Bret Maverick. Throughout the run of the series all the men who portrayed a Maverick managed to stay above board and not allow their bad tendencies to drop too low. Most times these men exhibited a conscience and came out as being the good guy.

Hee Haw was a victim of the rural purge
There is a saying that you never bite the hand that feeds you but that is just what CBS executives did in the early 1970s. They canceled a number of popular television shows just because they revolved around county living. THE BEVERLY HILBILLIES, PETTICOAT JUNCTION, GREEN ACRES, MABERRY RFD, and HEE HAW all were fan favorites and beloved by the viewing audience yet each of these series got the ax.

Tom and Jerry have entertained many generations
Tom ande Jerry reign supreme Four generations in my family have grown up enjoying the antics of Tom and Jerry the animated cat and mouse. In some episodes they are friends and in others they are enemies but they always entertain. The cartoon critters made their debut 8 decades ago on February 10, 1940. On this date, MGM released the short PUSS GETS THE BOOT in theaters. From that time through 1958 William Hannah and Joseph Barbera along with Rudolph Ising created magic in the form of 114 shorts from METRO GOLDWIN MAYER.
