Magic Mushrooms and Magic Bullets
Last week, California senators introduced a bill to legalize hallucinogenic drugs, including LSD, ketamine, mushrooms, and MDMA, more commonly known as Ecstasy. The sponsors say the bill is one small step in ending the War on Drugs, which, since the 1980s, has cost billions of dollars and resulted in the United States having the highest incarceration rate on the planet.

Why have only two Catholics served as President?
When Joe Biden took office in January, he became the 46th president of the United States, but only the second Catholic in U.S. history to hold the position. (John F. Kennedy, elected in 1960, was the first.) This is despite the fact that the Catholic Church is the largest religious body in the country. America is home to more than 70 million Catholics, nearly a quarter of the population. So why have only two Catholics ever been elected Commander-in-Chief?

Face-to-face with a killer
I still remember pressing my toddler-sized hands against the window and breathing on the glass. It was October 29th, 1989, and I was less than one week away from turning four years old. I was at a dry cleaning shop with my mom in her hometown of Bay Village, Ohio, where my family had recently moved. We were living with my grandmother on Lincoln Road while our new house was under construction.
