Her smile, the sun, and the flowers. I couldn’t stop thinking about how flawless she looked. The girl with short black hair and shining sea green eyes, mischievous intentions swirling behind them. She was so familiar, yet, so foreign. I knew her well, each expression, movement, all seen before. But now, it was like I was seeing a whole different person. Before, I hadn’t noticed how her hair framed her face so perfectly, or how she carried herself with such confidence. How can you know someone so well, but not at all?

The Murders at Milton Manor
I glanced upward at the rising manor before me the dark exterior and avian statuaries, full of foreboding. The garden, once well kept and thriving, was now riddled with weeds. Dried ropes, like hands clawing through the dirt. Though I was wary, I was not afraid. The strange letter that led me here popped into my mind. The surprising content said an old admirer of mine had passed away and, on a whim, he’d left everything to me. Though unexpected, his will was a binding legal document, and everything he owned was now mine.
