The Strangers on Tier Hill
NINE o’ CLOCK Leopold Fuchs stood about six feet in height. Although his complexion was that of a man approaching early middle age, his hair was a ghostly white with streaks of gray that lay gently over his ears. His eyes were penetrating, and demanding in such a way that they could command attention simply by their gaze alone. Our attention, however, was so focused on the progression of the night that we hadn’t noticed him until he announced himself to us.

The Strangers on Tier Hill
It is by sheer fortune or even by some miraculous intervention that I, and my wife, are alive to tell the story of that one fateful night in Berlin. As I recant, please allow no apprehensions or surrenderings to assumptions merit here. For the story that I am about to tell you has not been fabricated, nor has it deviated from the truth in any way.

The Doldrums
Day Unknown Hour Unknown Still no wind and waves. At least I think it’s been that long. It feels like it. No instruments work still and daylight has seemed to abandon us. The lanterns we lit on the ship, as well as the candles inside my quarters seem to burn without aid of wick and they seem to be glowing a color that’s not like they have done before. This only aids the fears and superstitions of my crew that we are indeed under the curse of the Doldrums. Everyone is restless, including my wife and daughter, concerning this perpetual darkness and the mysterious circumstances in which the lanterns and candles burn. I am too starting to feel uneasy. Maybe talk of this curse that I cannot seem to keep at bay has finally taken over the helm of my mind. I continue to pray that my strength through the Spirit will stay with me.

The Strangers on Tier Hill
TEN o’ CLOCK I found my wife standing at the corner of the ballroom when I returned. She was telling all sorts of stories from her youth. I had heard these before. She had champagne in her hand and I knew by which story she told just how much she had. Three. It was the tire swing story. She would soon lift up her arm and show her audience where it broke when she fell. She wasn’t drunk, though. And she wasn’t a lush.

Wizard's Oak
Down in the hole, Laura placed the flashlight at an angle so that it would illuminate Linda, who lay there in a disoriented state. She was conscious, but barely. It appeared as though she had hit her head upon impact, but from the angle the light was shining, Laura couldn’t tell. She grabbed the flashlight and angled it to where it would illuminate the back of Linda’s head without her having to move it. But she couldn’t see a thing.

Luciña (18+)
Breathe. You’re home. “You know, it’s strange.” The woman who’d introduced herself as Luciña paused. “I miss it so much.” She chuckled and looked up from her drink. “I only went there once, but I feel like there’s a part of me still there, you know?” The young gentleman sitting next to her at the bar nodded. Luciña smiled.

The Doldrums
For many decades Harbor Masters, seafarers and fishermen alike have handed down a legend that is as chilling as it is compelling. It is that of the strange, eerie sightings of a ship that many have thought to be that of the Stella Del Mattino, a ship rumored to have sailed over the horizon and off the face of earth altogether. Now I, a retired Captain in a small fishing town on the West Coast of Italy, have inherited the legend. But in a most unusual way.

The Man Without Age
There is a man, some say, who never grows old and who was never young. He lives all alone at the end of a road that no path can lead to or no carriage will go. And nothing planted within that land grows except that which hosts poison and thorn.

The House Upon the Sea
The next morning the fisherman awoke to the horror of a most terrible discovery. Three fishermen went to sleep in one room, but only two woke up in it. One was missing. The two sprang up in a frightful, desperate panic. They immediately looked out the window. The tide was out. It looked as if it never had come. The window did not cradle glass within its frame. Rather, it was clean and open, allowing anyone, or anything to come into the room from the water’s height, which was about a couple feet under the bottom frame. There were no signs of entry from what the two could see. Before long, they came upon what they were looking for. The bedroom door, which they closed, was now wide open. Leading from where their mate slept on out into the hallway were white streaks amidst pools of seawater. They led out of the room and down the hallway and stairs. From this discovery, the two came to a ghastly conclusion. Someone, or something had taken their mate. Frightened, the two followed the trails, determined to find their missing peer. From the hallway they led down the stairs and around the corner to where they stopped at an adjacent wall. The trail looked like it had disappeared into it. Puzzled, the two looked at each other and negotiated the possibilities of what this meant. In their examinations they came to the conclusion that there was something beyond the wall that stood before them. They knocked on the surrounding paneling and then on the wall in front of them. The sound from the wall they stood in front of echoed in a deep hollow moan. There was indeed something beyond it. The two pushed and the wall became a door, swinging open to confess its secret. There, before them, was the mouth of a cavern that descended into darkness.
