Talking Poetry And Art With Aly, Mick And Viv At Vicenzos
Having Coffee With Other Vocal Creators

Introduction
Mick and Aly Smith run Art sessions at Vincenzo's in Heaton, which I finally got along to today. This was the one:
Aly and Mick are both on Vocal; Aly is currently doing 50 Haiku, her latest is here:
And this is one of Mick's pieces:
These were my introductions to Mick's work at The Biscuit Factory:

So What Happened Today?
Vicenzos is a lovely place, and although I have been invited to these gatherings many times, this was the first time I managed to get there. The bus journey was damned near perfect, and then I managed to get lost after I got off the bus, but after I wandered around, I saw the doorway to Vicenzos, which stands on the road it is on.
I got there, and Alyson greeted me. Then I saw Mick, and they introduced me to Viv. I gave them a copy of my latest book, and we talked about art and poetry, and said that anything could be art as long as you called it art, like these forks here that Viv used for her drawing.

Viv said that she remembered some posh art exhibition where someone left their glasses on a chair, and visitors believed that was another work of art.
Mick dashed off an amazing picture of someone's bum in pencil; the man is a real artist.
Aly and I talked on Vocal and mentioned the 50-song Haiku projects, and she mentioned how lovely Paul Stewart was, and he is probably the most successful and supportive creator on Vocal.
We all had a couple of coffees and talked and shared stories and opinions for about an hour.
Conclusion
This was a very enjoyable morning, and next time I may take along some pencils and paper to see if I can draw something.
The music is "Join Together" by The Who, another favourite of mine and appropriate for this story.
Thank you for reading.
