Hunter (2017) — Critical Analysis
In Hunter (2017), the act of pursuit is transformed into a symbolic and psychological condition rather than a literal narrative event. Through fractured abstraction, hybridized forms, and an atmosphere of suspended tension, the painting explores themes of instinct, survival, domination, and perception. The work approaches the figure of the hunter not as an individual subject, but as an archetype embedded within systems of desire, power, and existential confrontation.

Ida Shaghoian and the Quiet Power of Water in Contemporary Painting. AI-Generated.
Ida Shaghoian is a contemporary painter whose work explores the dialogue between memory, emotion, and the natural world. With a visual style that blends abstraction and realism, her paintings are layered with vibrant color, textured surfaces, and subtle atmospheric details that encourage viewers to reflect on their own emotional experiences. Across many interpretations of her artistic themes, water emerges as a recurring symbolic presence that represents memory, emotional movement, and the evolving nature of identity. Rivers, reflections, and fluid surfaces become more than visual details. They function as emotional metaphors that connect viewers to ideas of change, introspection, and personal transformation.

Wabi-Sabi Art Prints and the Beauty of Imperfection in Modern Interior Design
In a world dominated by perfection, polished surfaces, and fast-paced lifestyles, many people are now searching for calmness, authenticity, and simplicity in their living spaces. This growing desire for peace and balance has increased global interest in wabi-sabi art, a Japanese aesthetic philosophy that embraces imperfection, natural beauty, and minimalism. Rooted deeply in traditional Japanese culture, wabi-sabi teaches that beauty does not come from perfection but from authenticity, age, simplicity, and the natural passage of time.

Nature in Art. Top Story - May 2026.
On Tuesday night, I was a little naughty. I indulged in culture, in a night supporting the arts. I should have been at a Parent Teacher Association meeting, discussing the raising of funds for the desperately needed school minibus but I eschewed this for a private invitation to a viewing of Darrell Warner's latest exhibition Crucifixion. Don't think too badly of me. In fact, let's move the focus from me and on to Darrell and his works.

Ida Shaghoian and the Quiet Language of Layered Texture. AI-Generated.
Ida Shaghoian is a contemporary painter whose work explores the dialogue between memory, emotion, and the natural world. With a style that blends abstraction and realism, her canvases are layered with vibrant color, bold textures, and subtle details that invite viewers to look closer and reflect on their own inner landscapes. Rather than relying on direct representation, her paintings often develop through accumulation, where earlier marks remain visible beneath newer layers. This creates surfaces that feel shaped by time, allowing the viewer to sense both emotional presence and the traces of earlier decisions within a single composition.

"What Are You?
Start writing..."What Are You?" 8x10 inch canvas This abstract self-portrait is a statement on my experience growing up Asian American. As a person of mixed nationalities, one of the most common questions strangers would ask me is, "What are you?" And while, of course, I understand they were wondering what race/nationality I am, as a mid-west born and raised American, I find the question off-putting and dehumanizing. What am I? I'm a human. I'm a mind, a body, a spirit, a student, a mentor, someone's mother, someone's child, I'm an artist and a bit of a misanthrope at times while also still being an absolutely naive idealist. I am so many things beyond just my mixed races. Racism isn't just loudly hating others, it's also those whispers of othering and dehumanizing people just because their skin looks different than yours or because their eyes squint. So here is my response to the question, "What are you?" I am so much more than any word or image could ever fully convey, but most importantly, I am human.
