"Slumbering Spring" By Angie Livingstone (The Glittering Fox)

Introduction

This has been inspired by a recent painting I saw shared by The Reiki Cat Lady, whom I follow on Facebook.

I am collaborating with The Glittering Fox on a forthcoming Art/Poetry book, which we should have ready in the next few weeks.

So I thought I would gather together some of my poetry and stories inspired by art, with most of the artists still producing wonderful artwork.

While these could be described as Ekphrastic, the art is often used as a starting point, rather than the poems and stories describing the art.

The music is "Peel The Paint" by the excellent "Gentle Giant"

I wanted to tell a story with this one, and managed to do it as a sonnet.

This was so beautifully surreal and the words just flowed with this one.

The Enchanted Booklet provides so many beautiful old woodcut drawings, this is just on ethat gave me inspiration.

This one will form part of the book I am working on with Angie Livingstone (The Glittering Fox). There are over fifty poems and stories that we have collaborated on, and there will be a lot more, I am sure.

Another from The Enchanted Booklet that inspired a Sestina

This was inspired by an amazing piece of Sculpture.

A piece inspired by Street Art and the words of Jimi Hendrix.

A poem inspired by the work of Kirsten Hel, which was in the room of our guest house in Inverness.

When Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup, this drone display appeared over St James' Park, and to me this is also art.

Bouke de Vries amazing broken pottery artworks is also very inspiring, though often for sad poetry.

This image from Julie Pacheco gave me inspiration for a Vries'e poem.

This frosting on a car windscreen shows how nature can create art and inspire our writing.

A villanelle inspired by a painting by my friend Mick Smith

I met VVzyk when she was performing in Preston, and this poem was inspired by her art.

This powerful sculpture is outside 1842 in Preston (which used to be the Corn Exchange/Public Hall) and commemorates the Lune Street Riot in 1842

Although I could go on for a lot longer, but I will leave you with this willow sculpture by Anna and The Willow.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have found something that you like.
