Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, stated on Friday that he intends to work with the carmaker on both the "silicon front" and the "AI software front" with his newest endeavor, the artificial intelligence firm xAI.

During Friday's live audio chat on Twitter Spaces, Musk also mentioned that xAI will utilize Twitter data to train the "maximally curious" AI systems and products he aims to create there. Musk did not clarify whether or how much xAI or his other firms will be charged by Twitter for its data.

In October 2022, Musk orchestrated a purchase of the social media company, which resulted in a $13 billion increase in debt for Twitter. As a result of the company's struggles to increase its subscription income, former workers and vendors have filed lawsuits against it for failure to pay them for finished work or severance.

Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Co. are just a few of the numerous businesses Musk founded or now leads that have long-standing commercial relationships. In financial documents Tesla filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, several of their transactions were mentioned.

Musk said on Friday that "Every AI organization on Earth" had "in every case" exploited Twitter's data for training purposes unlawfully without providing any supporting documentation. Which laws would have been broken by others' data scraping remained unclear. Twitter sued four unidentified defendants for data scraping in Texas earlier this month.

In recent weeks, Twitter imposed rate limitations on the social media network because, according to Musk, it was "being scraped like crazy." We had many companies collecting every tweet ever sent, and they were aiming to complete it in only a few days, he claimed. Thus, the system was being brought to its knees by this. Therefore, we had to act. He expressed regret that the rate restriction had caused you any trouble.

Musk stated, "I guess we will use the public tweets - obviously not anything private - for training as well, just like pretty much everyone else has," in reference to the pervasive usage of Twitter data by developers of AI software.

The data collection from Twitter is useful for "text training" as well as "image and video training," according to Musk.

The Alphabet-owned DeepMind's Alpha Zero, a computer program that mastered three games - chess, shogi, and go - after practicing by playing these games against itself, made clear that AI systems require more than just human-created data. He expressed hope that xAI could follow in Alpha Zero's footsteps. Alpha Zero trained by playing these games against itself.

Omar Qazi, a supporter and advocate of Tesla who goes by the handle Whole Mars Catalog on Twitter, questioned Musk on Twitter about how he intends for xAI to collaborate with Tesla during the Spaces event. He inquired about, among other things, whether xAI may leverage silicon produced by Tesla or Nvidia for data processing.

That's kind of a Tesla question, remarked Musk. Tesla is producing unique silicon. Even if Tesla's products may be described as GPU counterparts, I wouldn't call them GPUs.

Then he discussed Tesla's in-vehicle technology, which makes it possible for the company's cutting-edge driver aid systems to function in its vehicles. In the US, the technologies are touted as having Full Self-Driving Capability and Autopilot.

For years, Tesla has been promising its customers a robotaxi or self-driving car. At the time, Musk predicted that by the end of 2017, a cross-country demonstration with a Tesla automobile will be doable without a single human interaction. With the promise of a million robotaxi-ready Tesla vehicles on the road in 2019, Tesla raised billions of dollars. None of Tesla's cars can yet drive itself; a human driver must always be present and ready to steer or brake.

Tesla's hardware 4, which is now selling, is "three to five times more capable than hardware 3," according to Musk, who also claimed that "hardware 5" will be released in a few years and would be "four or five times more capable" than the present model.

The CEO also talked about Dojo, a supercomputer that Tesla is building for teaching computer vision and machine learning. Tesla develops new features and enhances current software by using data and video from its customers' cars.

According to Musk, the xAI language model that will likely be created in the future won't be "politically correct." The CEO, who has consistently criticized progressive or "woke" ideas, stated: "I think our AI can give answers that people may find controversial even though they are actually true."

The CEO of Tesla stated that xAI must create technology that "understands the physical world and not just the Internet," and he believes that Tesla's driving data will benefit it in this endeavor.

Elon Musk was questioned by Walter Isaacson, whose biography of the businessman will be published later this year, about Optimus, a humanoid robot that Tesla is creating with the intention of deploying it in production. According to Musk, the robot is still in its "early stages" and his team needs to come up with a mechanism for consumers to quickly switch it off.

Tesla debuted the Optimus humanoid robot prototype during their AI day in September 2022. On a conference call next Wednesday, Tesla executives are anticipated to provide updates on this and other topics.
