Twenty five years ago, I didn't even know that Google existed, but it has made such a dramatic difference to my life, especially when I ran my small business, I don't think I could function properly without it now. The Google corporation has impacted our world to such a degree, it is easy to take for ganted how it has changed our quality of life, vastly increased our knowledge of our world and seamlessly blended itself into the way we think and live.

For those who might not be aware of Google's output, apart from its search engine, its innovations are too numerous to list here. But its most notable and effective ones are the following:

  • Google Search: Now the world's most popular search engine, Google Search has revolutionised the availability of information and the way we access it. The search engine processes over 99,000 searches every second, by people who are seeking information on a wide range of topics. This amounts to a staggering 8.5 billion searches daily!
  • Android - the world's most popular mobile operating system, is used by over 3 billion active devices worldwide, especially to power smartphones and tablets, making them much more affordable and accessible to everyone.
  • Gmail - one of the world's most popular email services, with over 1.5 billion active users worldwide. Gmail's FREE service has made email more efficient and easy to use, especially as one can have as many addresses as one wishes.
  • Google Maps - the amazing mapping and navigation app. It offers a variety of features, such as real-time traffic updates, turn-by-turn navigation, and satellite imagery. Google Maps has certainly made it easier for people to not only get around their cities and the world, but to also explore the world from the comfort of their armchairs.
  • Google Translate - with over one billion active users, is one of the most popular translation tools. It allows people to translate text between over 100 languages as required, without having to study the language. This innovation has made it much easier for people to communicate with each other across language barriers. Imagine just speaking into your phone and it translates immediately for you. Magical!

Apart from those, there's also the Google Chrome web browser, Google Drive - a very popular and useful cloud storage service, and Google Docs, which is in a class of its own for all the activities it can do as a word processing app - especially its quiz and survey function. Additionally, over 100 million students and teachers use Google for its education products and services, not to mention the millions of businesses that use Google to promote and manage their enterprises, too.

Personally, I have benefited enormously from some of the Google innovations, not least its FREE website tool! That has come in so handy over the past few years to promote my activities, consultancy and my posts. I have also enjoyed both creating, and watching, videos on YouTube, and I love to use Google Maps (the satellite part) to virtually visit countries and explore their landmarks and interesting features on my computer, especially during the pandemic lockdown. Google has definitely given me a more enriching and knowledgeable experience. With its email, maps, videos, docs and translation service, I feel highly equipped for whatever I dod each day.

There is no doubt that Google's innovations have had a significant impact on our world and changed the way we live and work, making the world a more connected and informed place. Google has certainly made it easier for people to access information, communicate with each other, and get around, not to mention making many industries more efficient and productive. Google is not perfect by any means, but it deserves to have a super birthday!
