Facebook Groups

Facebook groups. Some are great. Some could be better. You can get burned by a bad admin. Or you can get stuck in a dead group.

It can get stressful looking for a Facebook group to use that you fit in with. Hopefully, after reading this, you won’t feel so stressed looking for a Facebook group.

Below is a list of the Facebook groups I use, in order of my favorite to least favorite, Vocalites. I’ve been with these groups since the middle of the year, and this is my view on each group I have joined to share my work and grow as a writer.

1. Vocal * Voices in Minor is a new program geared towards helping and sharing—for the minority on Vocal. I can guarantee the admins are active and supportive. Admins want no drama. I rate it 💙 💙 💙 💙 💙
2. Vocal + Assist is an extraordinary group, great for sharing and community. This group has excellent prompts, with many members getting top stories. The admins are active and supportive. I rate it 💙 💙 💙 💙 💙
3. Vocal & Medium Cafe is an excellent group for chatting about Vocal and writing. NO LINKS EVER. I rate it 💙 💙 💙 💙
4. Vocal Social Society is a fantastic community that is great for sharing. This group has excellent prompts. Mike has taught a lot about villanelles, music, and folk art. I rate it 💙 💙 💙 💙
5. Great Incantations: A group dedicated to Writing Challenges – great for sharing all things pertaining to challenges and prompts. I rate it 💙 💙 💙 💙
6. Vocal Media Stories is excellent for sharing. I rate it 💙 💙 💙
7. Vocal Aspire is great for sharing. I rate it 💙 💙 💙
8. Vocal Horror Writers has one pending post. Ok, for sharing. I rate it 💙 💙
9. The Vocal Creators Lounge has two pending posts. Ok, for sharing. I rate it 💙 💙
10. Vocal Creators Support Group – 10 pending posts. It's not my favorite group. There is no reason for ten pending posts. Either deny or accept them. I rate it 💙
11. Vocal Media Article Promotion has 11 pending posts. It's one of my least favorite groups for obvious reasons—no reason whatsoever for 11 pending posts. Either deny them or accept them. I rate it 💙
12. Vocal Media Creators Support – inactive admins and porn. My least favorite group. There’s very little activity on the posts. But the porn that was shared with this group was astronomical. It’s been cleaned up for now, but it won’t be long before it is back like it was before with inactive admins. Before anyone goes running to watch the porn posted, remember, that’s an excellent way to catch an internet STD and destroy your device or computer. I give it zero hearts. 💔

That’s not to mean these groups will not change within the next year, so I will revisit this rating this time next year and rerate each group. To ensure each group starts on an equal footing, I will go through and delete all my unpublished posts and start the year with a fresh plate.

Now, that’s not to say others are not having better luck with the groups I seem to be having problems with and had issues with the groups I’m having great success with. Since people run each group, human behavior is unpredictable. I can only guarantee one group will have no issues with anyone because it is the newest group on the list.
