The New Vocal Editor

Introduction

Over a month ago, [email protected] informed us of a brand new editor in this post:

People do complain about spacing, fonts, colours and stuff, but the main focus has to be the words and writing. We read these articles, poems and stories to take us to places we didn't even know existed.

However....Why I Am OK With The Current Editor

I do worry about the stories written with the current editor not being compatible with the new one, and a ground-level rebuild is going to be a lot of work.

The current one allows us to include video, images, and embedded links, and there is basic formatting available that I have documented here:

When I have wanted to do a particular non-standard format, I create the document using Google Docs, then screenshot and include in the image in the story, for example:

This was an attempt I tried with my Vocal Sister Melissa, but I had to screenshot, though I included the Vocal Editor attempt:

So the current editor is a bit of a challenge, but I like finding ways to circumnavigate problems, which I often create myself.

I think Ray Taylor told me about this text alterer, which allows you to paste into your Vocal stories:

Conclusion

If we get the new editor, hopefully, it will iron out the issues that I am having with many of my stories. If we don't, I still think Vocal is the best publishing platform.
