Le Guin Apprenticeship Journal
When I was a mere sprat, I wouldn't read. It took every (extremely) concerned adult in my drab, bookless life a loooooong while to realise the problem was the stories I'd been listening to. Greek Myths and The Faraway Tree are some of the standouts I remember. Then, when it came to reading for myself, the stories were just Bill and Ben and their big red ball, Sally and Ted go on a picnic. Where was the Plot, where was the Adventure!? Where were the Characters?! Eventually, someone sat me down and patiently explained that if I endured Bill and Ben are boring as hell a little while longer, I could make my own way to The Hobbit in the end. And the rest, as they say, is history. I love words; I'm sure all of us here do. I love the sounds, I love the shapes they make in my mouth. I love the pictures they make in my head. I love the feeling when a stranger's words find a place to take hold in me. And I love the dream that my own words may do the same somewhere, somehow, someday.

Yuck Fu AI Creators
Introduction I think the statement: "Why should I be bothered reading what YOU couldn't be bothered to write" and I know Vocal are having issues with DOS and trying to verify people but I saw something this morning that really got me down.

The Charm of a Troubled Protagonist
So, you're a writer. You sit down at the computer/typewriter/notebook/easel and prepare to spill your innards onto the page in all their visceral glory. You have a character in mind who you want to follow through the remnants of your gooey entrails. They're a strong, powerful, sure-handed character that will guide you and your readers through the blood, the puke, and the phlegm that is your story. They surmount every challenge, they defeat the enemy, they conquer the world. You finger paint 'the end' amongst your remains and the story is done. Complete. Ready to take on the world. But... is it? How easily did they overcome those odds, did the villain put up a good fight, were the readers ever in doubt of the final outcome of your character's ultimate victory? No? And so what, right? A story is a story. A character is a character. It's alright. Right?

One Story Closer To My Final Vocal Story. Content Warning.
Introduction You may see that as clickbait but it is actually a true statement for all of us. I am starting this because it is close to midnight so I am going to stay up and do midnight things before I crawl into my bed.

Writing Reflections: Lips as Red as Blood
Well, it’s Saturday once again, folks. I cannot tell you how relieved I am by that, but I’m not here to talk about work, though I could probably spend an entire story ranting at this point. Anyway, I’m here to get my mind off of that and discuss another one of my old works with you. Since I’ve focused on poetry for the past three entries, I figured that I would switch gears and take a look at one of my fiction pieces. With readers wanting me to focus (in development) short story collection on retold fairy tales, I’ve decided that I will analyze my microfiction story “Lips as Red as Blood”, a retelling of “Snow White” told from the Evil Queen’s perspective.
