One Story Closer To My Final Vocal Story. Content Warning.
Introduction You may see that as clickbait but it is actually a true statement for all of us. I am starting this because it is close to midnight so I am going to stay up and do midnight things before I crawl into my bed.

Anywhere?
Anywhere, anywhere. If you are with me. As the sun fell. Peace. Anywhere, anywhere. With her. As I fell. "Anywhere?" She said. "Anywhere," I said. "Anywhere you want. If you are with me. It is peace. No place I want to be. If you are not there." "But," she said, "what if there came a day you want to walk?" "That day will not come," I said.Β "I want you to be with me. With no end." Day to day, she was with me. Any day, any place, peace was with her. But the war came. Blood fell, and so we had to walk.Β "Anywhere?" She said. "Anywhere," I said. "Anywhere you want. If you are with me." Day to day. Walk to walk. Sun fell. Day came. Blood fell. Peace was with her. Peace was with me. Anywhere. Anywhere. As the sun fell. Peace was there. Peace was with her. For her, I had to let her go. So she was free. As they caught me. I was at peace. As she was at peace. "Anywhere?" they asked. "Anywhere," I said. She was anywhere, they were not. Caught, yes. I was. But at peace, yes.Β Anywhere, anywhere.

In a Pickle?. Top Story - July 2026.
The post below has, of this writing, 23.9 thousand views. Amazingly; no one dinged me for typing 'Nit' instead of 'Not'. That is a small thing to be thankful for, but I'll take it, especially as most of the comments questioned my sanity, my cooking, and my birthplace.

The Art of Writing on Vocal
A couple of days ago, I was talking with a friend about art, which is a subject I don't discuss much these days. It just doesn't come up in conversations with the family and Pam and I don't socialize much since our artist's group stopped getting together. I'm still a member of a Panhandle photographers' group, but we don't go to meetings anymore. There was some bad blood. I'll just leave it at that.

Please read!
Vocal writers are often amazing. What an opportunity to learn how to refine our craft! We can learn what works - and sometimes what doesnβt. We have an opportunity to read enlightening, educational, funny, titillating, shocking, horrifying poems, stories, and articles for free. Unlimited reading. Where else can you get that, other than libraries? Vocal pieces are lower time commitments than reading books.

What Happened to the Vocal Community?
I have been thinking about this for a while, and I finally decided to put my thoughts into words. I have only been on Vocal for about a year and a half, so I was not around during what many people call the platform's best years. Even so, I became curious one evening and started reading older articles from longtime members.

Soft Is Not the Opposite of Strong
We got the metaphor backwards somewhere. Somewhere along the way, we decided that pain was supposed to make us hard. That the goal, after everything, was to become someone who couldn't be touched the same way twice. Armor as achievement. Numbness mistaken for mastery. We started treating the callus as the whole point of the wound.
