Trusting God's Timing

God Is Never Late

By Kristony GreenPublished a day ago • 2 min read

I used to think that success was having the whole world know you're name. I thought success meant having everything my heart desired, and having it happen immediately.

I used to get mad seeing everyone around me receive the things they prayed for while I was still waiting on mine. I would always look at the lives of others and ask, "When will it be my turn?"

I didn't understand it then, but I was comparing chapters of my life to that of others. I was measuring my life by what I saw happening in other people instead of trusting what God was doing in my own life.

It wasn't that I didn't believe in Him.

But I was still learning.

I was still growing.

The one thing I learned that's now rooted in me is this one quote.

"I don't have to rush my growth."

I don't have to rush my dreams.

I don't have to force something to happen because I'm tired of waiting.

A tree doesn't become strong overnight. It grows slowly. Its roots grow before anyone can see the fruit.

And maybe, that's where I am right now.

Growing roots.

Becoming stronger.

Learning patience.

Learning that just because something didn't happen yet doesn't mean it isn't coming.

I'm learning what it takes to keep something that I will have when it comes. Because everything that God has for me, will come to me when it's time.

I'm not falling behind.

I'm not losing some winning game.

Life isn't a race where the person who gets there first wins the prize. We're all winners in God's eyes.

Everyone has their season.

Some seasons are full of blooming.

Some seasons are about planting.

Some seasons are about waiting.

And waiting isn't just wasted time.

God is working in the backgrounds. Slowly mending how he wants you to be. He's doing something in me while also showing me what he's getting ready to do for me.

When I look back at everything that I've been through, everything that I've survived, everything that I've learned, and the woman I'm still becoming, I realize something that took me a while to completely understand:

I am a success!

Not because the world knows my name.

Not because I have everything I want, or every dream has happened yet.

But because I'm still here.

I'm still growing.

I'm still dreaming.

I'm healthy, able to provide for my kids, and I'm still believing.

I'm learning to trust God's timing instead of fighting it and wanting things to happen when I feel it should.

And my understanding of success now?

It's not getting everything immediately. But maybe success is becoming who God created you to be while you wait on Him.

And if that's true.

Then I'm not behind at all.

I'm right where I'm supposed to be!
