Under the Stars

For the moments that felt written somewhere

I always wondered what it meant to be star‑crossed lovers. I also never understood it. What do stars have to do with falling in love.? Until I got older and understood the meaning — and how badly I wanted something like that for myself.

Not the tragedy part. Not the doomed part. Just the feeling of being so connected to someone that even the sky had opinions about it. The kind of love that feels written somewhere, even if the writing is messy. Even if the timing is wrong. Even if life keeps throwing obstacles at it like it’s testing how real it is.

I used to think star‑crossed meant cursed. Now I think it means complicated. Two people who should fit, who almost fit, who do fit — but the world around them doesn’t make it easy. Life gets in the way. Circumstances get in the way. Choices get in the way. And still, something in you reaches for them anyway.

Maybe that’s why the idea stuck to me. Because I’ve spent years wanting a love that didn’t feel accidental. A love that didn’t feel like settling. A love that didn’t feel like a placeholder until something better came along. I wanted the kind of connection that felt like gravity — the kind you don’t have to chase because it pulls you in on its own.

And maybe that’s foolish. Or maybe it’s human. Or maybe it’s just me, still trying to understand why the kind of love I want always seems to exist just slightly out of reach, like a constellation I can see but never quite touch.
