Challenge
Unofficial Challenges Repository
Unofficial Challenges are addictive. There, I said it. As someone who loves reading, inviting talented writers to create just the stories you want to read is an amazing opportunity! Add to that the brilliant excuse to be distributing prizes, and you have yourself an intoxicating cocktail.

This Is What They Don't Get
They looked at me and said, "Don't you feel lonely, living in your own little world all the time?" And I didn't answer right away. Because it's not a little world to me. It's the only one where I can actually breathe. Where I don't have to explain myself or shrink just to be tolerated and where I can think without being corrected, rest without being judged, exist without always performing for someone else's comfort. So l looked back and said, "You mean the world where people pretend all day, where you say you're fine when you're not, where everything depends on being liked, accepted, approved? You think I should trade peace for that? I don't feel lonely in here. I feel safe. But maybe that's the part you don't understand, because you've spent so long adjusting yourself for everyone else, you forgot what it's like to just be."

Notes At And On The End. Top Story - July 2026.
I find it to be the most utterly pretentious notion to contemplate who will be present at my funeral. After all, I’ll be dead, and you’ll be wasting your time looking at a portrait of me since, should my wishes actually be followed and not bastardized like the adaptation of The Hobbit was, my ashes will be tucked in the core of a tree somewhere. What a dreadful waste of time for all of us to assemble here, truly.

The Woman Who Wrote What She Couldn't Say
When she died, she left behind almost nothing that suggested literary ambition. A rented apartment in Finland. A kettle stained by years of tea. Receipts folded into the pages of paperback novels. Three unfinished notebooks. Hundreds of customer service emails signed with impossible cheerfulness.

The Winner's of Tim’s July 8th Birthday Challenge
I asked three friends to read all of the birthday poem submissions and make the selections so I wouldn't be the one choosing. After reading everything, they couldn't agree on a single favorite. Instead, they chose these three poems to be read as part of the celebration.

Writing Love as an Act of Survival
When Kristina Zill died, the literary world lost a writer who had spent her career insisting that tenderness deserved the same artistic attention as suffering. During her lifetime, she occupied a curious place within contemporary literature. She was admired by devoted readers, respected by fellow writers, and quietly prolific, yet she never became the sort of public literary figure critics expected to define a generation. Her books found their audience gradually, passed from hand to hand rather than propelled by bestseller lists. Long after publication, readers continued discovering her work and recommending it with an intimacy usually reserved for conversations instead of novels or collections of poetry.

Cheers to 250 Years🥂
O, what our forefathers wrought! No Grecian urns for these fellows, and thank God Ben had the world on a kite string, ruining one of Deborah’s ribbons, silkenly discovering something that was there all the while, as electric as a Christmas morning ambush, fighting the crown for the people.

The Vocal Situation
Introduction Thankfully I can now publish and there are some improvement in the editor although I hate the autosave feature. When it fails and says it is saved locally you don;t know whether to trust it. As yet it has worked for me, but I do save an offline copy just in case.

More On Writing On Vocal
Introduction The title came to me while I was out walking, and written down it is fine, but when you say it out loud it will sound very like "Moron Writing On Vocal" which I know is the opinion of a few in the Vocal community, though it does make a slightly humourous introduction to this article.
