Powerful Quake Shakes Southern Chile
Tsunami Alerts Issued

A strong 7.5-magnitude earthquake has hit off the coast of southern Chile.
In Chile and Argentina, tens of thousands of coastal residents were evacuated to higher ground. Tsunami warnings were issued after the quake, and authorities urged people in the region to evacuate to higher ground immediately.
Chilean President Gabriel Boric shared a message on social media ''X'' asking people to evacuate along the entire Magellan Coast. About 1,700 people had already been evacuated, Chile's national disaster response agency, Senapred, said.
In Argentina, security forces said more than 2,000 people were evacuated from coastal areas.
There has been no report of anyone killed or any property damaged at this stage and people have been told to adhere to their respective guidance and not panic.
