May wasn't a bad month here on Vocal. I completed a few Vocal Challenges and I managed 1 Top Story - a poem, If I Was Lore
I also got a few new subscribers that I hope stick around to read more of my stories. I promise, if you like what you've read so far, you will definitely see more of it!
I feel that around the middle to end of May, I hit a lag of creativity or at least I wasn't writing as much.
I am hoping the warmer weather will help boost my creativity and give me a multitude of ideas to write about.
But now it is a new month, a new slate, and time to focus on new goals!
Also, my 50% off trial for becoming a Vocal+ member runs out soon in July. I am highly considering keeping my Vocal+ status because I've been enjoying submitting to the various Vocal Challenges as they've sparked so many story and poetry ideas.
If I am going to continue my Vocal+ subscription and pay full price, then I need to continue to be more consistent with both my reading and writing to make the most out of my subscription.
Here are my Vocal goals for the month of June:
- Be more consistent and active on Vocal. This includes taking the opportunity to enter more Vocal Challenges. I'm excited for what challenges await in June! There are a few like The Posthumous Author that will be going on through the month of June and into July. My goal is to submit to at least 3 Vocal Challenges.
- Increase my reading stats. I can achieve this by continuing to write more consistently. A great way to increase reads is to share Vocal stories on multiple social media platforms. I know I have come across a few stories via some of the Vocal Facebook groups I might not have otherwise come across. I admit, I have been slacking sharing my stories on social media although I have been mindful to engage with fellow writers during the time I am on Vocal.
If I continue to write genuine and relatable articles and stories and be persistent with my writing, I can surpass my reads from May! And who knows, if I continue to write high quality stories, I just might earn another top story or two for June!
- Experiment and write something new! One of the best ways to grow as a writer is to experiment with different writings whether its different forms of poetry or venturing into a genre you usually wouldn’t write. A new month would be the perfect opportunity to try something new with my writing! A great challenge would be publishing in a community I've never written in before. The main communities I tend to write for are Writers, Horror, and Poets.
This gives me an idea. Anytime you are stuck on what to write about next, the photo gallery on your phone or wherever you keep photos might hold the answer. Recently, I've taken a few nature related pictures some consisting of wild flowers while others consisted of flowers in flower beds I've passed by.
These photos could easily spark a few poetry or story ideas!
- And of course, read and engage more with fellow Vocal readers and writers! There are so many talented writers on here and I always look forward to reading their stories!
The start of a new month is always an exciting time! Maybe we didn't reach our goals the previous month. And that's okay! The new month provides a clean slate to try again. It's the chance to try something new, focus on new opportunities, and new beginnings.
Wishing a successful June to all!
