I am Seema Patel. I have many self-published books on Amazon KDP. Let me share about them. It's Part 2.
'Mother-Daughter Creativities'
Though I am a biologist, I believe in the importance of environment more than genetics. I do paint, but I don’t think it is anything genetic that my daughter, 6, also paints. She is very creative.
It is all environments. She saw her mother doing different creative things, and she started doing them too.
Nowadays, we have one fun activity: We try to make the same painting or crafts in our own ways.
Compiling these arts, I created this book “Mother Daughter Creativities”. I believe, you will love them. Top art one is always mine, the bottom one’s Sophia's.
'Let's Curb Inflammation: Volume 1'
Inflammation is a double-edged sword. It is evolution’s way to heal after injuries and infections.
But excess inflammation can make the body acidic.
It can set the stage for diabetes, cancer, autoimmune diseases, and many other chronic illnesses.
Irritants can fuel this acidity. So, people must be watchful about different irritants and practice disciplined moderation, if they truly want to curb inflammation.
Here, I have compiled 32 stories and poems on various health topics.
They are written in a simple, digestive, and heartfelt format— and if read with attention, they will expand your understanding of human health.
I am saddened that mainstream healthcare often does not focus on the root cause of inflammation but only tries to fix symptoms on the surface.
As a result, we face an unfortunate number of illnesses and premature deaths in society.
So please—read these stories and share your feedback.
It’s Volume 1. Depending on reader response, I will release subsequent books in this series.
'Sumi-e Therapy'
Sumi-e is a Japanese style art. It is Zen influenced. Originally, it used black ink sumi on paper washi. The brush was called fude.
It shows the essence of a subject. Nature is the main theme. Few other colors can be used, but the style is still minimalistic.
Though sumi-e is a Japanese style art I am experimenting with different topics under this style. I paint Western and Indian themes too in sumi- e style. I have made Sakura, bamboo, camellia, ginkgo, pine, koi, geisha, persimmon, fisherman. But also, Ganesha, Krishna, Kokopelli, cowboy, mermaid, among other topics.
I use watercolor paints and my regular brushes. The papers used are also random, from food packaging cover to cardboards. The results still very pleasing.
Some arts are very simple, some of them are bit intricate and use more colors than two. Anyway, the tone is muted, always. I have often used inspiring quotes or terminologies like kintsugi, mushin, soshin, mujo, ichiren takusho, yasuragi, omoiyari, to make the book worthy of your time.
Sometimes, I have sneaked in health information too, for I am a biologist. Sometimes, climate crisis awareness too, as I advocate for environmental care.
Let me share my arts. Get ready for peaceful visual feast.
I hope, at the end of this book, you can feel that it was a book that took you on a peaceful journey.'
'Watercolor Therapy (Volume 2)'
Stress level is rising. We are feeling overwhelmed. Mental health is suffering.
We need therapy. Inexpensive and side effect-free. Art is that therapy. I believe, more people should take advantage of it.
This mode of self-expression makes us feel unique and self-confident.
Watercolor painting requires minimal investments and gives immense happiness. Try it. Watercolor painting can become the daily stress-relief you are looking for.
To me, it is. Every morning, after giving breakfast or dinner to the family, I sit at the dining table, which has now become a makeshift studio.
The watercolor set barely costs minimal, lasts for years, and gives benefits worth thousands.
I paint whatever comes to mind. I often use reference pictures from social media or Google and sometimes add meaningful quotes to the painting.
Please, do yourself a favor and dive into some form of creativity.
It is a potent therapy, a gentle antidepressant. You don’t have to be good. You just have to start. Just get the color palette, a few brushes, a bowl of water, papers, and let your imagination go wild.
Create places and themes you fancy, with zero cost and lots of perks.
It’s healing, and practice in mindfulness. Yoga does not work for me, but this sure does.
Immerse in it. Let it declutter your brain. Connect with your inner child. Feel happy in a chaotic world.
Inviting you to connect, support and be supported.
