Here Comes The Flood

Introduction

This was prompted by my Vocal home pages being flooded with the publications of a single Vocal Creator. That used to be a red flag and immediate unsubscription but after what happened to me on Vocal last November to January, my attitude has refocussed.

Here was the end of what happened and a bit more:

So What Is My Attitude Now?

This is a starting point:

When I was unable to publish on Vocal, I found I could reuse old stories which I thought were maybe a little less than perfect. The downside was that these were not eligible for Challenges or Top Stories, but then I started noticing stories that were excellent but did not have many reads.

I combined that with the realisation that many of my new Vocal friends and readers would not have seen these stories, so it was a simply a case of finding them in my stories list and then moving them to draft, ensuring that the links were still working and then republishing.

The result is that many of these get more than a few reads from my growing audience.

So I tend to reshare two or three "old" stories while publishing one or two new ones during the day.

Usually I try to space them out, so that I do not flood people's feed that follow me, and people will only read something if it captures their attention in some way.

This is what I feel about the writing I have published on Vocal.

I have a feeling that a lot of Vocal creators publish and then that's it. I continually go back over my work and sometimes thing "Bloody hell, did I write that?", in a good way.

Remember, that is unlikely that anyone will go back through your publications, and the only person who has read all your work is you.

Sometimes peopl are almost apologetic when they say they can't read all my work, and my answer to them is to treat my work like a magazine or a newspaper and just pict the ones that catch your eye or interest.

Conclusion

Going back to the Creator that effectively prompted this, they might have been doing what I do, to share their work with new readers. They are and excellent creator and a good person, so I am still subscribed.

So, as I say, just read my stuff that interests you. Sometimes it will be old, sometimes it will be new, but if you haven't seen it it may interest you.
