A few weeks ago, I set you a cheeky challenge for July. Here are the responses, and your challenge for August. Enjoy!

If you missed it, you can have a quick look at the challenge here:

If you cannot be arsed to read a whole other thing (who can blame you, let's be real) here's the meaty bit:

The Prompt

You can probably guess from the title that the prompt is a quote, so here it comes. Buckle up, buttercup:

"I’ve lost my faith in the summer time , Cos it don’t stop raining"

- The Importance of Being Idle, Oasis, 2005

The Responses

Here they are - please do go and show them some love!

There are a couple of poems as well:

A dollar is winging its way to my fellow micro scribblers!

August Challenge

Ready for another? Of course you are!

Challenge - Quote Me Baby (Suspense Edition)

The Prompt

It's another quote, (obviously,) but this time from a film. Not just any film either, one of my favourite films. One of the best films. If you are tempted to argue, do not! IT IS BEST. We had a meeting. Shhh!

The prompt this time is, We're not going to make it.

Edward Furlong as John Connor in Terminator 2

Them's the rules

Word count: Same as before: Microfiction, 300-600 words. (Keep in mind that the minimum count for the Fiction community is 600. If your story is under that, you will probably need an author's note to bring it up a bit, or it might be rejected for bing too short. NB: I always read the author's note! I love getting a peak behind the curtain at what goes into your stories.)

Prize: Just like last time, I'll tip my favourites a dollar each.

Winners: Again, same as last time! If there's only a few entries, I'll just pick one or two people. If there's more than 10, I'll pick 3. If there's more than 20, I'll pick 5.

Content: Last time, your story only had to be inspired by the quote. It didn't need to actually include the line. This time, please do include the actual words! You can put "are we?" on the end, or not, as you like. Your characters can, in fact, make it, against all odds. Or they might not. But they key thing is that they, and your reader, must believe they won't.

Limits: This one is a microfiction challenge. I'm not going to be a total stickler about it. Whatever gets your creative juices flowing is grand, and I'll be thrilled you used my prompt and took part! But if there are lots of responses, those that are poetry, or over the count, will be the ones I skip. You can submit as many as you like, but if there are loads of submissions (I'm not anticipating there will be) then I'm only promising to read the first two from each person.

Closing date: 11:59PM GMT, Saturday 31st August 2024

Really important: Please do link your story below! I would be gutted to miss anyone.
